Our table for lunch in Castiglione Faletto: The locals call this place La Terrazza. () Often times in Italy you have trouble finding a place, because the official name often uses an explicit identifier, (bar, taverna, ristorante, etc.) combined with the last name of the owner. So here the full name becomes Bar La Terrazza da Renza.
They serve only cold antipasti (appetizers). No pastas and no main entrées. But you don’t miss it. The point is to enjoy the view, your company, and a very well-curated wine list where almost every bottle pairs well with everything that is on the menu. A lunch could last 45 minutes or five hours. You are in the best winemaking region in Italy, eating traditional local recipes prepared with love. Places like this help time slow down and refocus you on what really matters in life.
When you are in Barolo country, it is a solid choice for lunch or a late afternoon snack, or even a very early Aperitivo as they close at 5 PM.
