As we bow our heads in prayer or personal thought on this awful day in history, I offer my annual reminder that in the end, the 9/11 attacks did *not* include a direct attack on or *in* Washington, DC. The Pentagon is across the Potomac River from DC in the Commonwealth of Virginia. May all those poor and brave souls rest in peace on this day and to eternity.

Twenty municipal election races across our seven county viewing area represented a challenge for us yesterday here at WVUA 23 News, but the crew came through! Two clean newscasts each that featured three live shots, which was more than ever before attempted here, proved so many in the newsroom were up for the challenge. Three field crews covered six races for mayor posts in five different counties. Many miles were conquered. Tons of digital content last night and leading up to election day. And there was pizza! I'm proud of the team -- for the win!

I've been teaching measures of news value for decades (note: I go with 7 ;) ). And I've been approving scripts for just as long, which is very often about tightening the writing and cutting TRT. Now I know it's "the most watched newscast in America," but I am curious what you all think about this kicker package from earlier this week about the retiring "stage manager" of "ABC World News Tonight." Not gonna' lie, I'm shaking my head. You?
