Today we remember Tyler PD Officer Milus Nichol. On October 12, 1962 Officer Nichol was the passenger in a Tyler PD patrol unit that was in pursuit of a vehicle heading toward Lindale. At Hwy 69 N./Loop 323 their patrol car hit a dump truck. Officer Nichol was killed and the officer driving was injured. He had been an officer for less than a year. He is 1 of 4 Tyler PD officers killed in the line of duty. We do not want to forget the sacrifice he made serving the City of Tyler.

TERRORISTIC THREAT MADE TOWARDS WHITEHOUSE SCHOOL, WHITEHOUSE, TX - 9/16/25

"On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at approximately 2:30 pm, Smith County Deputies responded to a report of a terroristic threat at an address near Whitehouse. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an unnamed individual who indicated she had received an alarming message on Snapchat from a female acquaintance who attended Whitehouse High School. The Snapchat message was provided to the Deputies, who were able to confirm that it was alarming in nature and indicated that the female was “thinking about shooting the school up”.

Smith County Deputies immediately responded to Whitehouse High School and spoke with a School Resource Officer about the threat. This information was quickly disseminated to WHISD staff and to the Whitehouse Police Department. The School Resource Officer determined that the questionable student was a juvenile, and she was not attending school that day.

Deputies were provided with the address of the juvenile and responded to her home, where they contacted the father. He was able to confirm that his daughter was at home, and the Deputies were able to speak with her. After speaking with the female, Deputies determined that a criminal offense had taken place and subsequently notified Smith County Investigators.

After further investigation, the juvenile was taken into custody for the criminal offense of Terroristic Threat (placing public in fear of serious bodily injury), a Third-Degree Felony. She was transported to the Juvenile Attention Center, where she was released to their custody.

This investigation was a collaborative effort between the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, Whitehouse Police Department, and the Whitehouse ISD. Information, such as this, is taken very seriously, and efforts were immediately put in motion to safeguard the students and faculty of all campuses in Whitehouse."

What is RCE Media?

Rose City Emergency Media has formed from two friends, both with interests in photography and public safety. With inspiration from the Netflix series “Shot in the Dark” and the 2014 movie “Nightcrawler” by Dan Gilroy, we have come together to document our local Public Safety personnel. What started out as “call chasing” on Saturday nights has evolved almost into a nightly gig...or whenever we have free time. If something big is going on, you might just see us there. You can follow and like our page, as we will be posting our pictures and soon to come videos!
