Chapel Hill ISD, in partnership with the Tyler ISD Police Department, will be conducting law enforcement training exercises at Chapel Hill Junior High from June 4–8, 2026, and at Wise Elementary from June 8–11, 2026.

These exercises are part of routine training designed to enhance emergency preparedness and response capabilities. Community members may notice an increased presence of law enforcement personnel and vehicles at these campuses during the scheduled dates.

Please note that this is only a training event and there is no cause for alarm.

National Telecommunications Week!

They don't wear a badge or race to the scene-but every emergency starts with them. This week, we recognize the calm voices behind the chaos.

To the dispatchers of Smith County and beyond-thank you for being the first to respond, even when no one sees it.

Official Statement – Troup Police Department

Today, the Troup Police Department responded to a potential threat reported to the school via a phone call. In accordance with established safety protocols, the school immediately went into lockdown while local law enforcement agencies responded to assist.

All three campuses were quickly secured by Troup ISD Police and assisting agencies, allowing only emergency personnel access. At the same time, the Troup Police Department began an immediate investigation into the reported threat.

After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the reported threat was a hoax intended to prompt an emergency response from law enforcement and school officials. Once it was confirmed that there was no credible threat to students or staff, everyone was safely released in accordance with school safety procedures and under the direction of officers on scene.

Following the release, officers conducted a comprehensive sweep of all campuses to ensure there were no potential threats or hazards present.

This investigation remains active and ongoing. We have already developed several leads that our office is actively pursuing. Rest assured that the individual(s) responsible will be identified, arrested, and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

The safety of our students, staff, and community remains our highest priority. We appreciate the swift response and cooperation from all agencies involved, as well as the patience and understanding of parents, students, and staff during today’s events.

The City of Tyler emergency sirens are going to sound today. Nope, it’s not the Borg rolling in…and even if it was, we’d handle it. No need to call Captain Picard.

It’s siren testing day. Expect them to sound off across the city at 11am, exactly how we want them to in an emergency.
