God’s calling is about increasing HIS Name, not our own. He increases. We decrease. (John 3:30) High and lifted up. Seated on the throne. 👑✝️🎬

📖 : One year ago, I made the decision to transition into a full-time business owner for Steve Y. Gardner Creative. Believe it or not, my creative brand was once a NYC side hustle in nightclub, lifestyle and press photography. But God took what I started in my own strength in 2011 and infused it with His in 2024. ⚡️

I haven’t shared much about the holy sanctification process of solopreneurship. It’s a wild ride. Like this photo of me, drowning in the deep end of being my own Chief Technology Officer. And CFO. And Business Development. And Operations. And Administration. And Creative Director. And Individual Contributor. 🤹🏻

Looking back, I see why I never did this without Jesus. Because He loves me enough to do this with me. 🎥

If y’all want, I can start sharing more of this side of business. The lessons. The pitfalls. The mountaintops. And the sweetest intimacy I’ll ever know: with my Heavenly Father and Savior all throughout. 🥹

So far, I’ll leave you with this: Give God your work. Whatever it is. Career. Business ownership. Partnerships. Investments. Outreach. Ministry. Academic endeavors. Give it all to Him and watch Him make miracles out of messiness. And don’t compare yourself with anyone ::BUT:: who you are without God vs. who you are with God.

“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” (Psalm 90:17)

🎥 : There is almost nothing as rewarding as witnessing your customer receive his or her own transformational testimony through your collaborative, storytelling relationship. 🥰

When my video storytelling partners begin to fully understand the nuts and bolts of the creative production process, I get so excited to see them excited. Sometimes, they go from being trepidatious about what’s around the corner to becoming elated with what God’s going to surprise them with next.

Video storytelling represents a small motion picture preview of God’s manifold reward system. For audiences. For investors. For Board Chairs. For ministry teams. For me. For you. And for His glory.

An infinite-fold win!

Glory to glory.

Maranatha!

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18)

🎥 : Video storytelling is not just a glossy, outward facing mission statement; adhered to a placard on a digital backdrop. It’s real people. Real relationships. And real testimony.

Why does storytelling call for vulnerability? Because life is hard and God created us to be there for another. Vulnerability is an ABILITY. It’s strength and courage to be who we REALLY are and ask the One who cares for us to change and transform us. As a result of sin, none of us are who we ought to be. But it takes a willingness to show up as we are in order to invite God into our struggle. 😫

I love partnering with organizations whose heart is to take that first step, extending authenticity to a community longing to be served. Not just with a service, but with the hope of redemption. This is the Gospel. This is Jesus. 🕊️

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”” (Matthew 11:28–30) ✝️

📸 (Photo: New York, NY — 2010) 15 years ago, I packed up my friend’s Saab (Yes, Saab 🚗) and moved from Back Bay, Boston to Astoria, Queens.

New York City was a fantasy fulfilled. Fresh promises under the Broadway flicker. A delicatessen of dreams come true. The concrete blocks just hit different on the foundation of Manhattan.

“Til death do us part,” I vowed beneath the veneer of who I thought I was meant to be.

But God has a way of letting us prove to ourselves who we aren’t in order to show us who we are.

It’s been said that after 10 years, you’re officially a “New Yorker.” 12 days shy of this anniversary, Manhattan and I broke up. And on August 18th, 2020, I drove off in a hoopty I picked up from New Jersey. 🚙💨

I’ve squatted city-to-city since then. Vegas to Miami to LA. (Yes, in the order.) Gotten lost in the woods in Montana. Slept in the open air of the chilly Pacific Northwest. And somehow landed in East Texas where Nothing sits adjacent to Huh. 🤷🏽‍♂️

God has a funny sense of humor. I love Him for Who He’s always been. And for what He’s making me into. All along the interstate highways, He’ll forever be the best thing Whose ever happened to me. And no matter where I am in the world, nothing hits home like Jesus. ✝️

“The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand. I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. He is ever lending generously, and his children become a blessing. Turn away from evil and do good; so shall you dwell forever.” (Psalm 37:23–29)

📖 TIME: The morning after I got saved by Jesus, God really started showing me my rap sheet according to His code of conduct.

The verdict: GUILTY. 👨🏽‍⚖️

I couldn’t believe that I could believe it.

My whole life I thought I was the victim, when in reality I was perpetrator. But the love of Christ and the will of Christ was to set me free from my sentencing through a substitutionary sacrifice. I was no longer behind bars because Jesus paid my penalty. ⛓️‍💥

Suddenly, I knew what it meant to be loved perfectly, proven through action in a way that I just couldn’t deny. The cross meant Christ had His arms stretched wide toward me, welcoming me into a life unfettered by a wrath I deserved twice over.

I was poor in sin, but God is rich in mercy.

Now, that’s amazing grace. ✝️

“”I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness;
I will take hold of your hand.
I will keep you and will make you
to be a covenant for the people
and a light for the Gentiles,
to open eyes that are blind,
to free captives from prison
and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.”

(Isaiah 42:6–7) 🕊️

HAPPY FRIDAY! 🎥 Today’s a great “Pick-up Footage” Day! My nonprofit video partner and I are wrapping filming on a couple more exciting God-stories! I also had a great workout and some morning calls with another video partner to discuss governmental agency storytelling in the future. 🇺🇸

Looking forward to sharing more with ya’ll.

Stay Tuned and Trust in God! 👀🎬✝️

🎥 : This week, I was blessed to be able to catch up with this one after we wrapped filming a year ago on her nonprofit video testimony. Hardships have endured and trial-by-fire has increased, but we were able to pray together and ask God for guidance and protection for a family in need of His grace.

Successful video storytelling partnerships are built on lasting relationship and trust. 🔗🎬

I am so grateful for the real connections that blossom out of the opportunities God gives us to testify through video. Storytelling is not transactional; it’s relational. And the heartbeat of an organization exists not within its posted mission statement, but its real people.

God, thank You for being the always-existing and everlasting lover of our souls. May we imitate to one another what You have shown us first. ✝️

“And if I have the gift of prophecy [and speak a new message from God to the people], and understand all mysteries, and [possess] all knowledge; and if I have all [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love [reaching out to others], I am nothing.” (1 Corinthians 13:2 AMP)

One of the many rewarding residuals of being a man of God is the invitation to participate in something so much bigger than anything I could accomplish on my own. To band together with other guys who desire to trade time, treasure and talent for the things of heaven. ⚜️

Not to earn anything, but to give everything. Because ministry isn’t just about memorizing verses, but about living and acting theologically.

“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (Acts 20:35)

I love fellowshipping, giving and enjoying my Savior Jesus Christ with my brothers at Rose Heights Church Mighty Men. We get to serve. We get to give. And we get to walk out a teeny, tiny picture of the One who gave it all up for us first and foremost. We’ll never measure up, and so we’ll always be able to look up. 🕊️

“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” (Hebrews 13:16) ✝️

🎥 NEW STORY: After her husband left for a sinful lifestyle, a mom and her sons had to pick up the shattered pieces of their once perfect home. 💔 What do you do when the vision for your life comes to a halt and everything falls to pieces between your fingers, like sinking sand?

“See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.”
(Isaiah 43:19)

God moves mountains and brings life out of dry places. The Pine Cove Scholarship Foundation stepped in, giving her boys a chance to encounter the Holy Spirit, grow in discipleship and shout Jesus all over the world. 🌍✨

Young people are the future of our faith. When God changes one story, it ripples through generations, setting a legacy of hope, healing, and redemption. 🙌

“One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.” (Psalm 145:4)

Does your family have a story of healing and redemption? Let’s keep paving the way for future families to know Jesus and share His love everywhere. 📖

🎥 : A $6,500 camera rig in the middle of Lake Tyler is worth it for the shot. 📸😂

Storied filmmaking is so much more than pressing record and assuming whatever comes out will stick with your target audience. It’s planning. It’s pushing. And it’s modifying your angle to immerse others into the shimmering beauty of testimonial triumph. 📐

I don’t always know why God tells me to think outside the box, but I know that His heart desires to impact His Church for the light to shine on a yet-to-be-redeemed world. In order to do so, we have to be willing to “yes” our “no.”

I love collaborating with my partners-in-storytelling. Pushing the envelope in creative communication and allowing the Holy Spirit to inspire and motivate us to possibility and joy; in the process as well as the end product.

God writes the story. We get to publish it. Stay tuned! 🎬👀

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2) ✝️

📚 : For two whole years, I’ve been serving with Unite Young Adults with Rose Heights Church and it’s never once felt “works-based”! It’s just an awesome group of individuals full of the promises of Abraham (Genesis 12:1–3) and with brimming hearts after God. (1 Samuel 13:14)

When I was in my 20s, I only cared about myself. My dreams. My glory. My self. It’s a humbling and gratifying experience walking the lamp-lit path of Christ with adults who pursue God’s will in their secondary education, early career, and Spirit led relationships. The battles this community has overcome in Christ is testimony upon testimony. And the joy of the Lord is their strength! (Nehemiah 8:10)

As Summer 2025 winds down, there’s still time to come bask in the Son. ☀️ Come check us. Sit at the feet of Jesus. (Luke 10:38–42.) Be loved by Him. And love one another! (John 13:34–35) ✝️

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.” (Psalm 119:9)
