BIG NEWS! A full-length, previously-unreleased Charley Pride album titled ENDLESSLY: A TRIBUTE TO BROOK BENTON will be released on September 19, 2025, a day which also marks the 94th anniversary of Benton’s birth!

Brimming with vintage country, R & B, soul and pop music sounds, this long-lost, retro-sonic homage to the legendary singer/songwriter Brook Benton was originally recorded during Charley’s brief mid-1980s interlude between his RCA Records and 16th Avenue Records record deals. It sounds very different than his 1970s/1980s country music recordings partially owing to the fact that it is an R&B/Soul record. But unlike most of Pride’s other recordings, which were recorded by Nashville “A-Team” musicians operating within Music City’s lucrative assembly-line studio system, the recording sessions for this particular album all took place at Pride’s own CECCA Sound Studios in Dallas, TX. And as good fortune would have it, the recordings feature an impressive array of world-class musicians who proudly called North Texas home during the mid-1980s, including legendary bassist Chuck Rainey (Steely Dan, Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones), drummer/percussionist Gene Glover (Ricardo Arjona), jazz pianist Fred Crane (Al Belletto, Johnnie Mercer, Al Hirt, Doc Severinsen), guitarist Jerry Matheny (LeAnn Rimes) and Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame inductee Billy Briggs Jr. (Bob Wills) on sax.

Pride’s co-producer, the late Bob Pickering (Nitzinger, Thunder, Bloodrock), charted some amazingly lush string arrangements for the project that were tracked by a first-rate ensemble of orchestral strings led by violinist, conductor and music educator Anshel Brusilow (Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Chamber Symphony of Philadelphia, New Orleans Symphony).

Previously lost and then recently rediscovered, the original multi-track masters were mixed and mastered under Bob Pickering’s supervision following Pride’s death. Other than digitally transferring, mixing and mastering the original performances, virtually no other post-production has been applied–no instrumentation has been added and no trendy artificial intelligence has been used to modify or enhance Charley’s vocals or the recordings in any way.

This stunning gem will be released digitally worldwide and a CD containing extensive liner notes is also being made available through music retailers in the United States.

For those that can’t wait for the full album, a digital single for “Thank You Pretty Baby” will be released toward the end of August.
