Praying for our Walthall County people. It’s heartbreaking to see the images of the damages. Please stay safe. Our reporters are currently unable to get to all of the places. Please email us with pictures or information that you are willing and able to share. [email protected]

From the owner:

Community newspapers, the small town weeklies that serve their communities with stories and features important to you, the reader, are disappearing. Many are absorbed by newspaper chains or groups and once sold, they begin to lose much of the local flavor that makes them unique.

My mother, Carolyn Dillon, felt strongly about Tylertown and Walthall County. From the time she started work at the paper at age 12 until her death, The Times and its independence as a small “mom and pop” weekly were most important to her, just as her hometown and county were.

As the new owner of The Times, I assure you we will attempt to honor her wishes. Our advertisers and readers are the way we exist. We have some innovative additions coming, but The Tylertown Times will continue as a family independent newspaper catering primarily to Walthall and surrounding counties.
