I posted several months back asking friends for help with something on eBay. I was trying to figure out why, even with Immediate Payment Required turned on, some buyers still seem to have days to pay.
Thankfully, someone gave me the perfect explanation, so when it happened again this week, I knew exactly what was going on. 😅
This buyer messaged me asking the lowest I’d go on an item. It’s normally listed at $99.99 (before my current sale). I told them I’d prefer to stay above $80. Several hours later, they sent an offer for $80, and I accepted it. 👍
But then… it sat there awaiting payment for several days.
For anyone who doesn’t know, when a buyer sends an offer and the seller accepts it, the buyer gets up to 4 days to pay—even if you have Immediate Payment Required selected. 💡
After a few days, I sent them a message asking if they were still planning to purchase the item. No response. Then a couple of days later… they requested to cancel the order. 😂
Here’s where my confusion kicks in:
If the item was still awaiting payment, then no money was ever being held, right? So how is there even an order to cancel? 🤣
Obviously, I understand the back-end side of things and that an order technically exists. This is more of a rhetorical question because I just find it funny that nothing was paid for, yet I still have to cancel the order. 😆
Hopefully this helps anyone who hasn’t run into this yet—or anyone wondering why a payment didn’t go through immediately. 📦✨
