TOO MANY THOUGHTS?!! 😵‍💫

Love this Picasso 😍 - Buste de Femme Assise portraying a portrait of Dora Maar wearing a lively multicolored stylish hat, seated with her elbows resting on a table, her chin resting on her hands in a contemplative pose; her pink colored face portraying distorted facial features - eyes protruding out, flared nostrils, splayed hands with painted red fingernails.

Dan Namingha is from the Tewa-Hopi tribe. His artworks reflect his education in traditions drawn from Tewa-Hopi culture and from modern abstract art. He is constantly drawn to his roots so deeply embedded in ceremony yet allows us only a guarded glimpse of his sacred traditions; the spirit messengers, the kachinas representing blessings, ancestors and cloud people.

Eagle Kachina:
The eagle represents strength and is an important part of the Hopi spiritual world. The Eagle Kachina acts as an intermediary between the physical world and the spirit world.

Painter and printmaker Jonathan Green is considered one of the most important contemporary painters of the Southern experience. The artwork of Green is heavily influenced by his Gullah heritage with vividly colored paintings and prints documenting everyday chores, in addition to celebrating Gullah life’s rites of passage. By returning his art to his childhood upbringing, Green has created an autobiographical body of work in addition to documenting a vanishing way of life. Jonathan Green's artwork has been exhibited across the United States and internationally, and is included in the permanent collections of several major museums. Artist statement - "I am drawn to rural environments that afford a sense of space and silence and an opportunity to unobtrusively observe daily functions of others as we all pursue life's mission of work, love and belonging.… It is the small, but critical tasks of daily life that I find most stimulating and reflective of the quality of essential, personal, community, and social values."

Romare Bearden once said, “What I’ve attempted to do is establish a world through art in which the validity of my Negro experience could live and make its own logic.”

Bearden helped found the Spiral Group during the 1960s, which served as both an outlet for his talent and increased his social awareness. A gathering of black artists, the group used art to make their voices heard in the struggle for Civil Rights. In 1963, Bearden recommended the members make a collage together. That was his first attempt with the technique, a form he favored for the rest of his life and used to show the richness of black culture.
