Torrence Looking For Opportunity
Steve Torrence is currently sitting in the seventh position in the Top Fuel point standings. He, along with crew chiefs Richard Hogan and Bobby Lagana Jr., are hopeful to have a similar result as last year. They produced three runs in the 3.70's in a row to advance them to the final round of elimination.
Torrence faced Shawn Langdon in the last round. It would end differently for both competitors. After they made solid passes in the 3.70's prior to the final. Torrence would leave the line with an .007 advantage over Langdon's .072 reaction. Torrence was able to stay out front, even with both drivers hazing the tires. It was Torrence doing the better pedaling job to take the win with a 3.963 pass to Langdon's 4.171.
With only four races left before the Countdown to the Championship. The CAPCO CONTRACTORS team will be digging in deep to gain as much ground as they can before heading to Reading NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway on September 11-14. This is just a reminder that some may have forgotten, points, and a half will be awarded for each round of racing won at the Cornwel Quality Tools U.S Nationals.
If Torrence is able to come out on top, it will be his second victory of the year, and his 57th career win as a professional. Torrence's last win came at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee, after he defeated Justin Ashley on June 8, 2025.
