Models continue to make the westward shift for Friday. We will be seeing QLCS Thunderstorms which is a long line of storms with the primary threats of Large Hail and Damaging winds in excess of 70mph, there is still potential for some embedded quick forming tornadoes possible Large Long track tornadoes are not expected at this time in the Eastern Nebraska or Majority of Iowa. Storms are expected to fire around 3pm just Southwest of Omaha and move quickly to the East/Northeast around 50mph, these storms will be moving very quickly so any warnings issued will impact your time to seek shelter so please pay close attention to changing conditions Friday afternoon and Evening, if any warnings are issued do not delay and seek shelter immediately. I will be out Chasing and will have a livestream from the event for this system throughout the afternoon. More updates to come if needed later this afternoon. Stay Safe!

Severe Weather Chances are increasing for Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa on Friday afternoon/Evening. Models and soundings beginning to show some Severe Storm Tracks including possibilities of a few tornadoes as well. Current model showing possible a few tornado tracks 1. From Plattsmouth,Nebraska through Bellevue,Ne and through Downtown Omaha,Ne. A 2nd track from Near Henderson,Iowa through Carson and Oakland,Iowa and up near Hancock,Iowa. The 3rd track from Near Weeping Water,Nebraska up through Ashland and Memphis,Nebraska. This is NOT saying that tornadoes are guaranteed it is ONLY saying that they are a possibility. These tracks could possibly change so anyone in Eastern Nebraska and the ENTIRE state of Iowa should be weather aware and take any and all warnings (if issued) seriously on Friday. More updates to come when readily available.

14/08/2024

Not much change in the Models for the Possibility of Severe Weather later this afternoon into this evening 2 general areas with the highest risks for Tornadic activity remain closer to Omaha Metro and just north near Blair, Nebraska and East into Iowa. Harlan, Denison, Atlantic and Carroll areas should all have a plan in place if warnings are issued. The 2nd area of possible Tornadic activity will be southeast Nebraska around Nebraska City area. Stay alert this afternoon and be prepared to seek shelter if a warning is issued.

Severe Weather and tornado potential is possible again tomorrow afternoon and into the evening for Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. All modes of severe weather will be possible, including the possibility of a long track tornado, please don't shoot the messenger, as I am only passing along model data and giving everyone a heads up of all possibilities for tomorrow, i hope this system will be a bust as we do NOT need anymore severe weather in our area as, my house itself was literally just 100% finished being repaired just yesterday from the April Tornado! but below I have posted a previous post of mine from April and one of the potential for tomorrow., the April Model nailed the long track tornado 100% and tomorrow's is eerily similar! Please be weather aware tomorrow and take all warnings seriously if any are to be issued!

Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued until 7am includes both Omaha and Des Moines Metro areas!

31/07/2024

Chance of a Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issuance possible in next couple hours to last through early morning hours for Eastern Nebraska and Parts of Western Iowa, have a way to recieve warnings overnight if one is issued, Primary threats are Large Hail and Damaginh winds in excess of 75mph, also a tornado or 2 cannot be ruled out with some of the stronger cells but chances remain fairly low but not zero. Stay weather aware and stay safe!

30/07/2024

Severe Thunderstorm Watch likely within the next 45 min or so for NE Nebraska and NW West Central Iowa. Primary Risks should be damaging winds, but an Isolated Tornado cannot be ruled out, if one were to occur most likely would be in NE Nebraska. Stay tuned and stay weather aware tonight.

24/06/2024

There will be a conditional risk of severe weather this afternoon and Evening. If storm development can occur the greatest threat would consist of mainly damaging wind gusts and some hail (some that could be large). Any storms that are able to develop will be very isolated, and not everyone would see a storm or rain. Timing will be likely from 5pm- 9pm across western iowa. Will update more later if necessary. Also Severe storm chances for tomorrow as well, more on that later.

18/06/2024

Severe Thunderstorm Watch likely by 330pm for Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. Storms are expected to begin to fire along a cold front in East Central Nebraska and move eastward into the Omaha area and across into Iowa. Primary threats will be large hail and damaging wind but a couple isolated tornadoes can't be ruled out in some of the stronger more organized storms. Stay weather aware this afternoon and Evening and stay safe!

Don't let the cloudy and cool conditions in the area fool you. Clearing should be taking place in the next couple hours and it will become sunny and warm into the upper 80s and low 90s and the atmosphere will become primed for all modes of severe weather including tornado possibilities. This likely will be an isolated event and not a widespread outbreak but below you will see the greatest area at risk to see Tornadic activity circled for this afternoon and into the evening. Looking at a time frame of likely 4-7pm. Anyone attending the CWS in Omaha should be weather aware and prepared to seek shelter if severe weather arises. Stay safe and alert, more updates to come as needed.

🌪️Something Random: I will never forget my first tornado (Hallam,Nebraska), also April 26 2024 my hometown of Harlan,Iowa was hit by a 2 mile wide EF3 tornado while i was in South Carolina on Family Vacation, this was a very somber drive home for us knowing many of my friends and neighbors lost everything and not knowing what I was personally coming home to, even though we did sustain damage to our property, it was nothing compared to what right up the road was!

Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa don't want to hear this but it needs to be said. Now is the time to prepare your severe weather plans and have your safe spot ready in the event that you should need to seek shelter.
