Chase Mode is Activated......SPC has upgraded the area to an Enhanced Risk of Severe Weather this afternoon/evening, Severe Tracks have stayed pretty close to the area I highlighted last night only difference is 1 is longer tracked and stronger indicating that the area circled below From Blair,Nebraska to Des Moines,Iowa is showing a possibility of a long tracked Tornado along or just north of I-80 the area could include Blair, Missouri Valley, Logan, Avoca, Harlan, Adair. Stuart,Des Moines and Newton. The threat area also is lined up with what soundings are showing as projected cloud bases have lowered thus increasing the Tornado threat. This will not be a widespread event but likely 1 or 2 Supercells that will track across the area. The cell that develops the furthest South will be the biggest concern for Tornado as it will have all the energy going into it and will easily begin to rotate! Have a plan in place and have your safe place ready to be utilized this afternoon and into the evening!

Severe storms are still likely Thursday afternoon/evening in Eastern Nebraska and Western to Central Iowa if the cap breaks, this will likely not be a widespread event but a few High Based Supercells could fire up just west of Omaha and move east. Likely time-frame of 4pm-9pm, Soundings are still supporting Very large Hail possibly up to Tennis Ball sized and Damaging winds in excess of 80mph, Sounding shows that cloud base is still a little too high to support large tornadoes but this bears watching as new sounding has shown cloud bases have lowered more than the previous runs, so a tornado or 2 cannot be ruled out. Circled below are the current areas showing Severe Tracks. Omaha, Blair, Council Bluffs, Harlan, Atlantic in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa and Ames, Ankeny, Des Moines, Newton in Central Iowa are all in the Greastest risk area currently. More updates to come after morning models come in. Stay weather aware and have a plan In place if weather becomes Severe!

15/04/2025

The risk of Severe Storms will return to Eastern Nebraska and Most of Iowa on Thursday afternoon/evening, all modes of Severe Weather will be possible with the greatest threat of Strong Damaging winds in excess of 80mph and large hail 2" in diameter possible at this time. Current Soundings indicate more of a Severe Wind Event and Moderate Hail possible, Tornado threat at this time seems relatively low do to soundings indicating higher cloud bases, but we are still 48 hours out from the event and models will continue to change a bit. Stay tuned for further updates and stay weather aware and have a Severe weather action plan in place if needed on Thursday!

27/03/2025

Closely watching the chance of Severe Thunderstorms to develop along a Warm Front Thursday late afternoon into Thursday evening. We will have a risk of Large Hail, Damaging Winds and Isolated Tornado Chances across Southeast Nebraska and Southwest Iowa with the risk extending north to close to the Omaha area, primarily the greatest risk will be south of Interstate 80 around Lincoln to Nebraska City and East towards Red Oak, Clarinda and Possibly Atlantic area as well. I will continue monitoring models and update as necessary. So as of Now if you live in the areas mentioned above be weather aware tomorrow and have a plan for shelter ready and a reliable way to recieve warnings if they are issued.

Models continue to make the westward shift for Friday. We will be seeing QLCS Thunderstorms which is a long line of storms with the primary threats of Large Hail and Damaging winds in excess of 70mph, there is still potential for some embedded quick forming tornadoes possible Large Long track tornadoes are not expected at this time in the Eastern Nebraska or Majority of Iowa. Storms are expected to fire around 3pm just Southwest of Omaha and move quickly to the East/Northeast around 50mph, these storms will be moving very quickly so any warnings issued will impact your time to seek shelter so please pay close attention to changing conditions Friday afternoon and Evening, if any warnings are issued do not delay and seek shelter immediately. I will be out Chasing and will have a livestream from the event for this system throughout the afternoon. More updates to come if needed later this afternoon. Stay Safe!

13/03/2025

Severe Weather Chances are increasing for Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa on Friday afternoon/Evening. Models and soundings beginning to show some Severe Storm Tracks including possibilities of a few tornadoes as well. Current model showing possible a few tornado tracks 1. From Plattsmouth,Nebraska through Bellevue,Ne and through Downtown Omaha,Ne. A 2nd track from Near Henderson,Iowa through Carson and Oakland,Iowa and up near Hancock,Iowa. The 3rd track from Near Weeping Water,Nebraska up through Ashland and Memphis,Nebraska. This is NOT saying that tornadoes are guaranteed it is ONLY saying that they are a possibility. These tracks could possibly change so anyone in Eastern Nebraska and the ENTIRE state of Iowa should be weather aware and take any and all warnings (if issued) seriously on Friday. More updates to come when readily available.

14/08/2024

Not much change in the Models for the Possibility of Severe Weather later this afternoon into this evening 2 general areas with the highest risks for Tornadic activity remain closer to Omaha Metro and just north near Blair, Nebraska and East into Iowa. Harlan, Denison, Atlantic and Carroll areas should all have a plan in place if warnings are issued. The 2nd area of possible Tornadic activity will be southeast Nebraska around Nebraska City area. Stay alert this afternoon and be prepared to seek shelter if a warning is issued.

Severe Weather and tornado potential is possible again tomorrow afternoon and into the evening for Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. All modes of severe weather will be possible, including the possibility of a long track tornado, please don't shoot the messenger, as I am only passing along model data and giving everyone a heads up of all possibilities for tomorrow, i hope this system will be a bust as we do NOT need anymore severe weather in our area as, my house itself was literally just 100% finished being repaired just yesterday from the April Tornado! but below I have posted a previous post of mine from April and one of the potential for tomorrow., the April Model nailed the long track tornado 100% and tomorrow's is eerily similar! Please be weather aware tomorrow and take all warnings seriously if any are to be issued!
