In between local IA 266 calls at the Amp and Norton today, I spent the better part of 3 hours rebuilding the Hurlbut livestream computer settings on my Mac Mini M4 that I usually use at home and for other remote productions. The faithful MSI laptop that has served Hurlbut UMC so well since 2020 has a swollen battery, which has pushed up the keyboard and other hardware on the machine. So for safety, it’s now been decommissioned and I’ll run everything off my Mac for the foreseeable future. This is good for a couple of reasons… 1) a machine that is capable of taking Dante and NDI feeds is now ready to go… 2) Restream is something I’ve been wanting to try out for a while now and 3) Qlab can finally be introduced into what I’m calling the Mark V Hurlbut Workflow! OBS will be sending the program feed to Restream, which will send to Facebook, YouTube, and the church website… as well as to page for the Chautauqua Hebrew Congregation and the YouTube channel for the Chautauqua Science Circle. Thankfully I have a Bitfocus Companion Instance running on a raspberry pi 5, so I just had to connect the OB: instance to that for automations to happen seamlessly between that, the x32, and EasyWorship. Not ideal to do this in the middle of the Chautauqua season, but hey… what’s life without a little chaos!?!?
