Why did some governments fear reggae music?

Because reggae was never just entertainment.

Long before social media, artists used reggae to speak about injustice, inequality, freedom, human rights, and resistance.

Some songs were criticized.

Some messages were discouraged.

Some dancehalls were watched closely.

But the music kept spreading.

From Jamaica to Africa, Europe, the Americas, and beyond, reggae became a voice for people who felt unheard.

That's what made it powerful.

And for some, that's what made it dangerous.

Reggae as truth.

Reggae as healing.

Reggae as resistance.

Reggae as memory.

Reggae as survival.

Do you think music still has the power to challenge society today?
