🚨We are honored to have DJ FLAME for the June 2025 Issue. 🚨

Gail Hall aka DJ Flame formerly known as DJ La S***k is no stranger to Radio or the Music Industry. She is the "Only" female to ever have a DJ Residency at a Legendary Hip Hop Venue the "T Connection" and 1 of 3 Female DJ's who was an MC to perform before commercial Hip Hop. She was Inducted into the Hip Hop Hall of Fame in May 2014. DJ Flame has Received several Citations from 2 Bronx Borough Presidents and a Proclamation from the City of NY in 2021. She became the 1st Female Radio Host/Producer of the "Only" Urban Gospel Show in NYC "The Anointed Mic Check(tm) WHCR 90.3FM NY and still spinning after 40yrs.

For over 15yrs she has been DJ for the Legendary Kurtis Blow at the Hip Hop Church NYC. She held the position of NY Chapter Director for the Urban Gospel Alliance, 2003-2010 while sitting on the board representing Holy Hip Hop for Dr. Bobby Jones' Artist Industry Retreats. DJ Flame has been a Certified Youth Chaplain since 2011. She has been the first to be a DJ/ Musical Director for "The Mogul" an inspirational play at Princeton University 2014. In addition she is the former Director of Holy Hip Hop Division for Hip Hop Blvd, Inc 2019-2023. She has Performed on Harlem Week's Main Stage Holy Hip Hop for the Hip Hop Hall of Fame showcase 2023 and 2024. DJ for the Legendary Sha Rock Day in NYC for 2yrs 2023, 2024. DJ for Grandmixter DXT at the Legendary Treacherous 3 Hill Reunion in NYC for 2 yrs 2023, 2024. DJ for Harlem Week Mainstage 2yrs with the Hip Hop Hall of Fame. Xazmine The New Voice of R&B is here to stay
In the ever-evolving landscape of R&B, a new luminary emerges from the vibrant Bay Area: Xazmine, affectionately dubbed "The New Voice." While the music scene is often dominated by fleeting trends, she stands out as a refreshing force, blending R&B with global influences that reflect her African American, Palestinian, and Israeli heritage. Her unique sound resonates with authenticity, offering listeners a rich tapestry of emotions and experiences.

Xazmine's journey began in 2018 with a stirring rendition of Barbara Mason’s "Yes I’m Ready," produced by Jim Gardiner and Paula Telander. This performance not only captivated audiences but also garnered recognition from the Grammys and accolades at the Art for Peace awards in Los Angeles. Her role as the Youth Global Peace Leader, appointed by Dame Munni Irone, further solidified her commitment to using music as a bridge between cultures, especially evident during her impactful performances in New Delhi.

Her 2024 debut single release, "Angel," showcased her emotive vocal range and introspective songwriting. The track's ethereal melodies and heartfelt lyrics resonated deeply, marking a promising start to her recording career.

The Mercedes Ladies DJ's in the 1970s, in the Bronx, NY amidst a male-dominated hip-hop scene, emerged as pioneers, breaking barriers with their infectious beats, electrifying performances, and unapologetic attitude. The Mercedes Ladies, which consisted of Sheri Sher, DJ RD Smiley, Eve-a-Def, Zena-Z, and DJ Baby D, this all-female group, fueled by raw talent and a passion for their craft, carved their own path in a genre that often overlooked women. In an industry where women faced systemic challenges and biases, The Mercedes Ladies empowered themselves and others, proving that brilliance knows no gender. They gained recognition through their energetic and skilled performances, often competing against male crews in DJ battles. They also hosted block parties and dance competitions that attracted large crowds and helped spread the hip-hop culture throughout the city. The Mercedes Ladies performed along with big names such as Red Alert, Dj Kool Herc, The Furious Five, Grandmaster Flash and many others but they never had their own record deal.
Despite their place in the history of Hip-Hop they never received the recognition they deserved within the Hip-hop culture as female pioneers. They shattered glass ceilings with each beat, each rhyme, and each electrifying performance. Their presence on stage was a testament to the strength and resilience of women in the music industry. Yet, despite their undeniable impact, The Mercedes Ladies have been overlooked in the annals of hip-hop history. Their contribution to the evolution of hip-hop, particularly in amplifying the voices of women, cannot be understated. Let us champion The Mercedes Ladies and bring their story to the forefront of hip-hop history. Let us acknowledge their influence on contemporary artists and the lasting impact of their fearless pursuit of their dreams.
