What the Tobs Mean to Me – From Jackson

A lot of people in Wilson are talking about the Tobs this season—and I want to share what they mean to me.

The Tobs were the first place to give me a real job. That’s something I’ll never forget. I’m autistic, and while a lot of people have heard of autism, I think some are still unsure about giving someone like me a chance. But not the Tobs. I applied with the Mudcats. Never ever called me back.

Mike and the entire Tobs family welcomed me, believed in me, and made me feel like part of the team from day one. It’s more than baseball—it’s family.

When my parents and I first moved to Wilson, we got connected with Whirldogs, and I’ve been with them for a few years now. Wesly, Martha, and the crew at Whirldogs are amazing. They've helped me grow and build skills. But Whirldogs is a training ground—what I’ve been hoping for is a real opportunity to work and be part of something.

That’s what the Tobs gave me. A chance. A purpose. A place to belong.

So if you ask me what the Tobs mean? It’s simple:

The Tobs are family. 💛⚾
