We told you we would talk about church one day! This chat with best-selling and award-winning author L. Michelle Smith did not disappoint.

In this episode, we talked with L. Michelle Smith about our experiences with the Black Church, how it has influenced us personally and professionally, and how her new book, Call and Response: 10 Leadership Lessons from the Black Church, has helped leaders and aspiring leaders advance their professional goals.

We know this is shocking, but we both got into a bit of trouble when we were kids. We can't tell you the worst of it, but 🎶 "these are our confessions!"🎶

Gen ❌! Why are you mad at Kid Rock and Robert Kennedy’s health video for the Department of Health and Human Services??? I know why.

Not just because the *ahem* material is questionable. Not because the song choice is inappropriate. Not even because of those jeans in the sauna and tub! It’s because WE had THE BEST health messages disguised as entertainment to date.

I know you remember “Time for Timer” convincing you that cheese and crackers were the ultimate source of energy at snack time. Timer and his snack propaganda paved the way for cheese and crackers to be called lunchables to be widely accepted as an actual meal just because Oscar Meyer said so. The were a time…

In this episode, we ask the question, "Black, white, everybody, or just me?" Do you remember when everything from sitcoms to commercials to Saturday morning cartoons had some sort of lesson buried in it? We do! In this episode we talk about some of the fictional role models like Bill sitting on Capitol Hill and Smokey the bear, as well as several of our favorite sitcoms that were full of lessons.

Wait til the end 😂😂😂😂 I know raising me was a LOT. I remember telling my mom I thought I had AIDS. She tried to explain to me that as a 12 year old who hadn’t had s*x and wasn’t using drugs that it was highly unlikely. I ain’t read all that in the magazines. I skipped all the medical speak and just got to the stuff I could understand, which led to some “interesting” conclusions.

The journals also had the most interesting artwork on the covers. How could I resist reading a few articles 😅
