Entertaining Angels

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. Hebrews 13:2 NKJV

Imagine Abraham is lounging in the shadows of his tent when he lifts up his gaze and sees three strangers drawing near. He springs up and invites them to rest in the cool shade. He sends for water to wash their dusty feet. And he arranges for bread and meat before joining his guests (Genesis 18:1–15).

You have to wonder: When did Abraham realize that the three strangers he entertained were no mere mortals, but rather angels—one of them the Lord Himself?

Though in the end Abraham knew to whom he spoke, when he first invited those strangers to be his guests, he unknowingly served angels. Yet he greeted them as honored guests.

Hebrews 13:2 urges us to welcome strangers, for we might, as Abraham did, unwittingly entertain angels. But perhaps the verse is less about angels and more about treating everyone, stranger or known, earthly or heavenly, as if they were the honored angels of God. For whether or not you accommodate one of heaven’s host, you are always offering hospitality to one of God’s beloved ones. Like Abraham, show this kind of deference to everyone you meet.

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day to walk in Your precepts, thank You for the grace You have shown us. Forgive us Lord, for our sins and our iniquities, forgive us for our trespasses and help us with our shortcomings, thank You Father for Your mercy. Lord as Your children we know we must show love and kindness to all of the people of God, we must treat them with respect and love and honor as if they were You. Help us Father to show love to all. We love You Lord and will always give You the glory, honor and praise, in Jesus name we pray, Amen 🙏🏽♥️
