A TRIBUTE TO A MAJOR GENERATION-SHAPING PROPHETIC VOICE

The Lord’s mighty hand apprehended him from eastern Nigeria and by His Spirit, tempered him into a fierce, unquenching voice by whom the counsel of heaven pealed nonstop throughout Nigeria and beyond, for decades.

His robust evangelistic ministry brought forth extinction level ferocity against all the works of darkness in his path. He consolidated into a gospel staple under which my generation grew — Daddy Uma Ukpai was what we fondly called him. He scoured the hinterlands like a fine-tooth comb and delivered the philanthropy of Jesus without reservation.

As a young Christian growing up in the city of Makurdi in the eighties and nineties, Daddy Uma Ukpai’s crusades were seismic kingdom spectacles —they brought on the brightest colours of the gospel and Jesus was seen by so many infallible proofs — there was no doubt Jesus is alive!

Daddy’s words and deeds rang so loud and burned so strong that they were etched into the heart of my generation. I dare say that there is no evangelist of renown today in my generation who has not directly or tangentially been shaped by Daddy’s raw faith and fervent witness. I am persuaded that the seeds sown by his tireless labours of love will receive increases that shall abide until the Lord returns.

His work here is done, he has gone for his crown of glory at the Lord’s feet in the hereafter.

Though he will be greatly missed in the flesh, we take comfort in the fact that he fully discharged the content of his call to the glory of God and the profiting of the saints.

Good night daddy. See you on the resurrection morning!

Yours in His service,

Arome Osayi.

AN OPEN LAMENTATION TO THE FATHERS OF FAITH IN NIGERIA
(A Cry from the Sons and Daughters of the Altar)

Oh Fathers of faith in this land—Papa Enoch Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo, Papa W.F. Kumuyi, Dr. Paul Enenche, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Pastor Wale Oke, Papa David Ibiyeomie, Archbishop Margret Idahosa, Rev. Felix Omobude, Pastor Joe Imakando, Baba Isaac omolehi, Baba Gbile Akanni and all the noble custodians of God’s flame in Nigeria this is not a letter of criticism, but a cry, a lamentation from your sons and daughters who still believe in the God you introduced to us.
Fathers, while we honor your grace and thank God for your voices that have echoed through the nations lifting burdens, building men, and breaking yokes our hearts tremble tonight under the weight of sorrow. The Church in the valleys of Nigeria bleeds. The blood of the faithful flows in silence across farmlands, villages, and forgotten corners where the light of civilization has not yet reached, but the cry of martyrs has.
We know you have built universities, raised altars, and discipled kings. You have shown us prosperity and excellence. Through your hands, the sick have walked, the blind have seen, and even governments have listened. Yet, fathers, Nigeria burns, and the Church in the hinterlands is groaning. Our brethren are slaughtered daily not for crime, not for rebellion, but for the name of Jesus.
Oh fathers, while you mourn the passing of God’s general, Dr. Uma Ukpai, let his departure remind you that the night draws near, and soon your voices may no longer echo in our streets. Please, before the Lord calls you home, speak for us. Use your authority, your relationships, your influence before kings and powers to cry for the souls perishing in the dark corners of this nation.
We know you have prayed, but we beg rise again. Gather as one voice. Shake the heavens and speak to the conscience of this nation. Call upon your children those of us who still look up to you to stand in unity, not for denominations, not for empires, but for the body of Christ in Nigeria.
Our fathers, your sayings are sharper than the sword of the people who slay us. Your silence is louder than their guns. If you speak, Nigeria will listen. If you rise, even the government will tremble. Please, use your grace once more to defend the heritage of the cross in this land.
We are not asking for political endorsement but for spiritual intervention. We are asking for the mantle of compassion that built nations to be lifted over us again. For as you have helped the world, please help us while you are still here. For soon, you may be called home to the cloud of witnesses, and we the young, the wounded, the weak will be left with your legacies but without your presence.
Oh fathers of faith, before the candle flickers, and before the trumpet sounds, *remember Nigeria*. Remember your children dying in the North, the widows in the Middle Belt, the orphans in the East, and the hungry saints in the South. Remember that we are the seeds of your revival, and the fire you lit in us must not die in blood and silence.
May your hearts burn again with the compassion of Christ.
May your tears mix with ours and rise as incense before the throne.
And may heaven record that when the Church cried, the fathers heard.

Signed:
A son of the altar, weeping from the land of blood and hope.

Senate Approves Life Imprisonment for defilement of Minors

The Nigerian Senate has approved life imprisonment with no option of fine for anyone found guilty of defiling a minor, marking a tougher stance against child sexual abuse.

During plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio distinguished defilement from r**e, insisting that offences involving minors deserve heavier punishment.

“Defilement of a minor should be different from that of r**e; those involved in defilement should suffer greater punishment. I promise that it should be 20 years if you defile an underage,” Akpabio said, adding that he had witnessed many cases involving children aged five to ten years.

He then invited contributions from lawmakers. Senator Adamu Aliero proposed that the minimum sentence for defilement be fixed at 20 years, stressing that offenders should not be given any option of fine.

In a stronger recommendation, Senator Sunday Adeleke called for life imprisonment, citing countries like India and Pakistan that treat defilement as a capital offence. He argued that Nigeria must demonstrate zero tolerance for such crimes.

After deliberation, the Senate unanimously adopted the motion, resolving that any man or woman who engages in sexual in*******se with a minor will face life imprisonment without the possibility of a fine.

Lawmakers noted that the resolution reflects the National Assembly’s determination to protect children and curb the rising cases of sexual violence across the country. The Senate President described the decision as a step toward restoring dignity, justice, and moral responsibility within Nigerian society.

TO THE CHURCH IN NIGERIA WRITE...

Oh Church of God in Nigeria, the once fiery bride whose incense filled the heavens, what has become of your garments? You swim in prosperity and glamour, your altars gleam with gold, your sanctuaries sparkle with chandeliers yet the cries of the persecuted echo unanswered beneath your songs of comfort. You boast of cathedrals, yet your voice is silent in the streets where your brothers are slain.
Oh church leaders in Nigeria, the land is soaked with the blood of men whose only sin is their faith in Christ. From the North to the Middle Belt, their blood cries louder than our conferences, their tears heavier than our sermons. While we host conventions on increase, widows of martyrs weep in silence. While we preach harvest, their children starve in displacement camps.
How has Zion forgotten her wounded soldiers? How has the church that once shook kingdoms become a marketplace of titles and tribes? The apostles of the early days faced lions, yet we tremble before politicians. The prophets once rebuked kings, yet today, kings anoint our altars while injustice reigns in their courts.
O church, your oil drips, but your light grows dim. Your voices echo on screens, but your impact fades on the streets. Your intercessors have turned to influencers, your prophets to performers. You count offerings but not orphans; you celebrate testimonies but not truth.
Remember, O bride of Christ, that glamour is not glory. The gold you chase cannot buy the fire you’ve lost. The blood of the saints is crying from the jungles of Kaduna to the ashes of Jos, from the tears in Benue to the whispers in Maiduguri “How long, O Lord, before your Church remembers?”
Repent, O Nigeria Church, before the lampstand is removed from its place. For revival will not come through noise, but through tears. It will not flow from abundance, but from brokenness. The blood that stains this land will either condemn us or consecrate us.
Let the Church arise not in competition, but in compassion; not in empire-building, but in kingdom-living. For the Spirit still searches for men who will cry between the porch and the altar, saying, “Spare Thy people, O Lord.”
The blood speaks. Will the Church listen?

I have recently learned about the tragic event that happened to Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo and the church gathering. We heard his cry, we’ve seen the burden on his heart, and in our own small way we’ve decided to support and encourage him — both in prayer and with financial aid.

At Giant Token Charity Foundation ( Giant Token) we believe in accountability and transparency. So we want to share this publicly: we’ve transferred ₦500,000 to the account of the church. More than that, the Watchtower Prayer Network will also be making a private donation to the church account. I myself will be making a personal private donation — to both the servant of God and the church — as the Lord leads.

Here are the account details:

Church Account
Name: COCIN RCC ROPP
Bank: First Bank
Account Number: 3009109983

Personal Account of the Man of God
Name: Ezekiel Dachomo Bwede
Bank: Access Bank
Account Number: 0014701404

Please note: giving to the church is important, and giving to the servant is equally important. (See Galatians 6:6: “Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches.”)

These funds will help get the community strengthen through food, shelter and even security wise to an extent.

I call on everyone reading this: sow a seed into these accounts. This is our season to stand strong, unify our giving, and ensure the work of God goes on — stronger than ever.

It’s our Daddy's and Mommy’s anniversary as a couple set apart to bear and bring to bear the government of God in our generation.

Your union is a powerful testimony of Christ’s boundless love for His church and the endless possibilities that abound when the church fully aligns to Christ. You are an example to us, the RCN family, and countless sons and daughters of Zion spread throughout the body of Christ the world over.

May the Lord continue to uphold and strengthen you both as you ascend higher in the firmaments of obedience to the One who is Lord above all.

We love and celebrate you, Daddy and Mommy.

Happy anniversary!
