A: On Nov. 13, representatives of 32 area entities came together at the Panora Community Center to describe the projects being done with funding from the Guthrie County Community Foundation (GCCF). HEADING SOUTH?

Several decades ago, Jolene and I visited her parents in Arizona. They were newly retired and were thoroughly enjoying their time in the warm-weather climate. I had never been to Arizona, or any sort of retirement community, so this was an eye-opener for me. No plant life. No animal life. No children. Too hot to go outside. And, I was convinced someone was going to die at the restaurant we dined at. Don’t get me started on the demolition derby of shopping carts going every which direction at the grocery store either. NANCY ANN CHESNUT

Nancy Ann Chesnut, of Panora, formerly of Adair, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer.

Nancy was born July 23, 1952 in Atlantic, the daughter of Arthur and Geneva (Blum) Zimmer. She grew up in Casey, graduating from Adair-Casey Schools in 1970. She was married to Kevin Chesnut on April 24, 1971. They made their home in Adair before moving to Lake Panorama in 2016. ...

Q: How many people attended the Veterans Pancake Breakfast fundraiser in November?

A: The freewill donation Veterans Pancake Breakfast was held Saturday, Nov. 15 from 8-11 a.m. at The Captain’s Pick, and more than 150 people were served. Proceeds from the fundraiser, which were nearly $4,000, are going to VFW Post 5510 and American Legion Post 372.
