Slight risk for severe weather later today with a 5% tornado threat for parts of northwestern Iowa, southwestern Minnesota, southeastern South Dakota, and northeastern Nebraska.

Storms are expected to begin around 6pm in eastern South Dakota.

~Significant Severe Weather Friday Evening/Overnight~

Scattered to widespread severe thunderstorms are increasingly likely tomorrow evening and through the overnight hours for portions of the region. Iowa looks to be in the brunt of this with perfect timing for an intense squall line to move southeast potentially producing hurricane force winds (74+ MPH) and several tornadoes. The highest tornado potential looks to be during the dark hours, which is a concern to closely watch. Don't be surprised if there is minor changes to the placement of the risk area. It will all depend on where each boundary exactly sets up.
