വൈലോപ്പിള്ളിയുടെ വളരെ സുന്ദരമായ കവിത
ദരിദ്രൻ വിശന്ന് മരിച്ചു.
ശവസംസ്കാരത്തിന് പലരുമെത്തി.
ശവത്തിന് ചുറ്റും അൽപ്പം ഒണക്കലരി ഇടണമെന്ന് ദരിദ്രൻ്റെ വിധവയോട് ആളുകൾ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ
കണ്ണീരിനിടയിൽ അവർ പറഞ്ഞു,
അരിയുണ്ടെന്നാൽ അങ്ങേർ അന്തരിക്കുകയില്ലല്ലോ.
അതായത് പട്ടിണി കിടന്ന് മരിച്ചയാൾക്ക് ഒരൽപ്പം ഉണക്കലരി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ അയാൾ മരിക്കില്ലായിരുന്നു.
ധനികൻ ദരിദ്രനോട് ചോദിക്കുന്നു.
നീയാകെ ക്ഷീണിച്ചു പോയല്ലോ.
ദരിദ്രൻ സ്വയം പറഞ്ഞു.
ക്ഷണിച്ചു പോയല്ലോ എന്ന് പറയുന്നതിന് പകരം നിനക്ക് വിശക്കുന്നുണ്ടോ എന്ന് ഇയാൾ ചോദിച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ.
ഒരാളുടെ വിശപ്പ് മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നതിനേക്കാൾ വലിയ പ്രാർഥന വേറെയില്ല.
