A year of waiting . . .

Valley Victors 4-H Club member Coal Davenport, 8, son of Josh and Lexi Davenport, waits for his turn in the arena atop his horse, Star Fire. Fair days are back in Jefferson County, with the horse show kicking off the 77th annual event over the weekend. A full fair schedule will be printed in next week’s edition of the newspaper.

🚧 STREET CLOSURE NOTICE 🚧

Broadway Street will be closed at Walnut Street west to the alley starting Wednesday, June 18th at 7:00 AM for the repair of a collapsed sewer main.

🔧 The closure will remain in place for several weeks to allow for both the sewer repair and brick street restoration.

Please use alternate routes. We appreciate your patience during this necessary work.

Tiger Softball is Regional Champions!!! TIGER ROAR!!!!!

Jefferson West (3A🥎) won their Regional Championship game with a 6-3 victory over traditional 3A contender Santa Fe Trail to punch their ticket to the 3A state tournament in nearby Topeka. Tigers played in a very solid Big East League in its first year of existence. Head coach Maddy Barger and team has seen an awesome season in her first year as Head Coach. Coach Barger was on the state title team 10 years ago when Jefferson West won it all before continuing her career at Emporia State.

It's a great day to be a Tiger!!!!!

Tigers Baseball are Regional Champions and headed to State week!! ❤️⚾️🖤⚾️

Jefferson West (3A⚾️) defeats Olathe-Heritage Christian Academy in Regionals Semi-finals, 12 innings for a 6-5 victory before advancing to the Regional Championship and beating Big East League rival, Perry-Lecompton 12-2 in 6 innings to punch their ticket to the 3A state tournament in Manhattan. Jefferson West Baseball is 26-2 on the year.

IT'S GREAT TO BE A TIGER!!!!!

FOUR county teams are state-bound! Congrats and good luck to the Dragon and Tiger baseball teams and the Tiger and Bear softball teams!!

Valley Falls (2-1A ⚾️) defeats Doniphan West in the regional championship game 4-1 to punch their ticket to state. Valley Falls is now 22-4 on the year. They defeated Jefferson County North 7-0 in the semifinals to get to the championship game and earlier defeated McLouth 9-2 in the quarterfinals. This is Valley Falls 4th State appearance in the last 5 years.
