City Celebrates Beautiful Restoration of Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park
In early 2022, a required emergency water main repair resulted in substantial disruption to Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park, leaving major portions of the grounds in a state of disrepair, including 2 of the 5 “gardens of the continents” features. In addition to providing a place for recreation and reflection, Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park is a living celebration of international goodwill. The 17-acre park, dedicated in 2003 and named for Cincinnati’s first African American Mayor, consumes the eastern end of a 2-mile stretch of Cincinnati’s majestic riverfront parks.
This $2.4 Million project has precisely restored the park to its original state and represents a joint venture between the Cincinnati Park Board and Greater Cincinnati Water Works. Key project elements include refurbished bike baths, walkways, seating walls, pavers, new trees, sod, shrubs, electrical, lighting, irrigation and more. The construction project broke ground in July 2024.
