🚨 DEVELOPMENT NEWS IN WALTON 🚨
The long-vacant Sheffield Pond property is slated for a major transformation. Plans presented to the Walton Village Planning Board on Aug. 21 include:
🏕️ Cabins for lodging
🍴 A 4,500-square-foot restaurant
🎉 An event space
🛍️ A general store
Developers say the resort - to be called Walton Pond - will be built in phases over the next year and a half, with a focus on preserving the natural character of the site.
But questions remain about parking, code compliance, infrastructure, and stormwater review. The project is still under village, county, and state agency review.

🚨 Walton Residents: UHS Delaware Valley Hospital Parking Plan Approved 🚨
The Walton Planning Board approved a new 2-acre, 131-space parking lot on Cherry Street to support UHS Delaware Valley Hospital. At a public meeting Aug. 21, CEO Rolland “Boomer” Bojo and site engineer Vince Pietrzak addressed concerns from neighbors about traffic, flooding, and light pollution.
Highlights include:
🌧 Stormwater Management - An underground system and open-ditch drainage will help manage runoff and reduce flooding along Cherry Street.
🌳 Screening & Landscaping - New trees and shrubs will buffer the lot from nearby homes while preserving existing groves.
💡 LED Lighting – Shielded fixtures minimize light spillage into the neighborhood.
🚶 Pedestrian Safety - Sidewalks will guide walkers from the lot to the hospital.
Bojo assured residents: “Absolutely know that, I will do everything in my power to be a good neighbor…we will do everything we can to make it as good as possible.”

🚧 Bovina Budget Talks Begin — Road Dispute Divides Neighbors 🚧
At the Aug. 12 Bovina Town Council meeting, officials scheduled a Sept. 16 budget workshop for the 2026 fiscal year and voted to send the town’s draft comprehensive plan to the Delaware County Planning Board for review.
The meeting also saw tensions rise over access to the old John Tuttle Road. A letter from several residents claimed their legal right to use the road is being challenged by neighboring property owners. Town Attorney Allyson Phillips made it clear: Bovina has no jurisdiction and cannot intervene — leaving the matter to be resolved privately or in court.

🚨 Delaware County Property Tax Foreclosure Auction Planned for July 2026 🚨
Delaware County Treasurer Beverly Shields says the county is on track to hold its next property tax foreclosure auction in July 2026, combining delinquent 2019 and 2020 taxes into one sale.
So far, 278 parcels are slated for the auction. The process begins this fall with foreclosure warning letters, moving through court filings in early 2026, and culminating in a summer auction — unless owners pay before judgment.
Some delinquent owners are on payment plans, but many default, rolling into the next foreclosure cycle.
