In 2019, Maple Leaf Foods launched an project that would optimize operations. Rather than reinvent the wheel, they realized the manufacturing ex*****on system from AVEVA, which they already had in place, could be the foundation for a digital transformation that included advanced analytics and technology from Braincube. The result: ROI in just 3 months.

It's pretty clear that a pick and place cobot or palletizing robot isn't going to take someone's job on the plant floor or warehouse. But what about a humanoid robot?

PMMI Media Group Senior Editor Elisabeth Cuneo recently asked the question: "What exactly are humanoid robots, and are they a viable labor force solution?" Her investigation uncovers that there are robots that look and move like humans out there in use right now lifting heavy boxes, sorting parts, or packing items. In the future, with advances in , dexterity, and even some emotional intelligence for more natural interactions, these general-purpose robots could be a productive part of the plant floor.

An interesting and educational exploration of how can change the manufacturing - and a must read for CPGs!

With advanced AI software, dexterous “hands,” and full body mobility, will humanoid robots be the answer to the shortage of labor on the packaging line?

There are no couch potatoes in the metaverse.
That's what ProFood World Editor-in-Chief Aaron Hand found out when he recently had a technology demo of tna solutions Pty Ltd.'s Virtual Factory, which included cute cartoon taters doing a digital dance down the processing line. This was an entertaining example of how extended reality (XR) technology can immerse manufacturers into a future version of the factory.

The Virtual Factory from tna solutions uses extended reality to help clients visualize their new plants. The technology was on demo at PACK EXPO Las Vegas.
