Ye**ty Brews Artisanal Beers will release a collaboration beer with Beer Babes Family today at 1 p.m.

Beer Babes Family is now a charitable organization in both the U.S. and Canada. Broward Beer caught up with Rachel Benkowski, one of the nonprofit’s co-founders.

"We saw that there was nothing for women that are already in the business. They're trying to improve their business or start a business," Benkowski says. "If you're a woman in the industry and need a new walk-in cooler, want new faucets, you want to add a fermenter you know, whatever you need to help improve your business. You can apply for our business grant."

Are you scared Bud Light may turn you gay? There’s a new beer for you.

“Conservative Dad’s Ultra Right” looks like it tastes just as bad as its competitor with even worse taste in branding.

Brought to you by a guy who helped Trump’s Georgia campaign in 2016 – this beer brand's creator promises to never “go woke.”

"As conservatives, we're constantly getting hit in the face left and right by the 'woke mind virus.' The last place we want it is in our beer," Seth Weathers says in a promotional video on Twitter. "If you know which bathroom to use, you know which beer you should be drinking. Stop giving money to 'woke corporations' that hate our values."

To protect those values, you can pay twice the price of one sh*tty beer company for another. But at least this one is proudly scared of transgender people.

"Ultra Right" is only available for online preorders right now. Weathers launched the now-viral video yesterday and claims to have already received "thousands of orders."

I have a tour I like to give friends and family visiting from out of town: We start at Orchestrated Minds Brewing, Uber to Invasive Species, walk to Laser Wolf, then to Glitch Bar to end the night.

It showcases all of my favorite breweries and bars. We could simply call it after tacos from Laser Wolf. But Glitch Bar is the best way to leave my guests with a lasting memory.

I’ve tried to put my finger on what I love so much about the place.

My friend and founder of the South Florida geek culture blog https://geeksgazette.com/, Gillian Manning, and I recently sat down with the owner of Glitch Bar to learn what gives it such a unique personality.

It’s one of my favorites in Flagler Village for reasons beyond video games.

• Is it the nostalgia of a club decked out in ‘80s and ‘90s pop culture references?

• The unique beer selection?

• The perfect lighting that transports guests to another time period?

I’d like to say it’s simply all of the above.

How do those things all come together in balance and harmony?

I’ve gone to other arcade bars locally and while traveling. There’s something unique about Glitch Bar.

Local South Florida beer really starts in Miami.

The end of prohibition in the early 1930’s birthed some of the first breweries down here.

None of them lasted, and were all defunct within a few years.

That risk-taking, entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in Miami’s beer scene today.

Back in October, I got an offer to write about the best breweries in the South Florida beer scene for two different Palm Beach Media Group magazines.

This story in Fort Lauderdale Illustrated is the first. I’m really happy with the way it came out.

The editor gave me free rein to cover the breweries that I feel define South Florida craft beer.

My focus was locally-owned. Each brewery makes a unique product and has a vibrant taproom without financial backing from Anheuser-Busch or Heineken.

This Saturday, at 12:30 p.m., my friend Gillian Manning from and I will host a panel on blogging at the in Wellington.

It’s a free event focused on literature. There will be writing workshops, poetry readings, a literary costume contest, and panels like ours hosted by local authors.

Gillian co-organized and “Hero Beer” with me. She created all of the social media flyers for both events, and many here on Broward Beer.

Last summer, Gillian launched Geek’s Gazette as a blog focused on the South Florida cosplay community and all things geek culture.

She’s taught me a lot about design and blogging.

I’m happy and proud for the opportunity to lead a panel with Gillian about blogging and journalism with other local authors.
