In the 2022 midterms, Gen-Z came out in historic numbers.
And in 2024, their voice will be even louder with more members of Gen-Z eligible to vote. According to some analysts, the 2024 election may be in their hands if increased voter turnout continues.
Gen-Z heavily voted blue this last election cycle. But that is not because they are loyal to Democrats: it is because they feel that political party is doing something about the issues that matter to them. Additionally, Democrats have been able to tap into the world of influencers and social media in a way Republicans have not achieved.
Not only is Gen-Z passionate about addressing certain issues like climate change, gun violence, and racial injustice, they communicate about these issues vastly different than every generation before them.
Gen-Z predominately communicates and understands their ideas through social media. This generation is not swayed by traditional TV ads and late night commentary; they are impacted by influencers in the form of short bite-sized video content via TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
If you want to reach Gen-Z effectively, it has to be through the way they best receive information. Utilizing the same methods that may reach Generation X or Boomers will not work for Gen-Z.
