Ontarryius "O.T." Reid was the standard bearer for a Palatka High School boys weightlifting team that was determined to have a lot of competitors move on to the 2020 state championship, not just Reid. They got off to a fast start and were feeling positive about the future. But all the hard work got taken away in March 2020.

Starting at 9 this morning, the Sharks will be competing in the Planet Fitness First Coast Summer League Championship at the Nocatee Swim Club in Ponte Vedra. It will be a two-day event featuring all eight teams that swim competitively and will continue with older swimmers 11 years old and up at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Dale Yarbrough saw three straight 8 a.m. games when the Southeast Regional Babe Ruth 16-and-under baseball tournament schedule came out and became taciturn.

But by Friday morning, Yarbrough’s Melrose all-stars were sitting at 3-0 in the tournament. Melrose also overcame an obstacle – a nemesis that has beaten his Melrose teams the past three years in Southeast Regional tournaments.

For more on both the Melrose Under-16 and Under-14 All-Star teams playing in the Southeastern Regional, read Saturday's Palatka Daily News.: https://www.palatkadailynews.com/sports/southeast-regional-babe-ruth-baseball-all-star-tournament-melrose-16-u-team-finds-mornings
