Hello Lompoc Family,
This month marks the 22nd Anniversary of The Lompoc Vision—and what an incredible journey it’s been! For more than two decades, we’ve had the honor and privilege of sharing your stories, celebrating your achievements, and shining a light on the people and moments that make our valley truly special.
What many may not realize is that The Lompoc Vision is a one-man production, with Victor Jordan at the helm. From our very first issue back in November 2003, our mission has been simple yet powerful: to focus on the positive—to celebrate the good that grows right here in Lompoc. Month after month, you’ve trusted us with your news, your hopes, your photos, and your heartfelt stories. And for that, we are deeply grateful.

Radium Girls is produced and directed by Cabrillo Choral Music and CTE Theater teacher, Jennifer Peterson. The show is technical directed by Lara Schmeiser. In the 1920’s, the world was obsessed with Radium. It was believed to bring you vitality, energy and could cure a wide variety of ailments. It was added to face creams, water and even toothpaste! Radium, this new mysterious element, was discovered by Marie Curie and her husband, Pierre. It could be mixed with other chemicals to create a luminous paint, and the paint could then be applied to the tiny numbers on watches used by the military. It was an invaluable aid to soldiers, crawling through the trenches of World War I, were unable to read their watches in the dark. The United States Radium Corporation hired young women, with their smaller hands, were perfect to do the tiny detailed painting. Many young teenage girls jumped at the chance to earn good money painting. But then…they started to get sick. Radium Girls, a play written with warmth and humor by D.W. Gregory, follows the story of one of the factory workers, Grace Fryer, as she fights for her day in court against the employer who abandoned her and her sick friends. Based on the true story of real Americans who fought against the United States Radium Corporation for damages, recognition and their lives!
Show dates are on the last 2 weekends in October. Tickets are on sale online at https://cabrillohsperformingarts.ludus.com Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students under 18. The show will be performed at the Cabrillo High School’s Little Theater (4350 Constellation Road).
