For over 81 years, The Jimmie Hale Mission has turned hope into healing. Men, women and children in our area affected by homelessness and poverty often feel that their desperate circumstances may never change. However, through our work grounded in Christian faith, we see the lives of our clients transform every day.

For those who seek the Mission’s help, we provide a proven process of compassion, guidance and accountability that leads to lasting recovery from the root causes of homelessness. We do this through counseling, group support, our proven clinical recovery programs, education curriculum, and job readiness training to secure employment and stable housing.

Clients reside at one of our three facilities while in our program–Shepura Men’s Center in downtown Birmingham, our largest campus for 90 men; Jessie’s Place in downtown Birmingham, our safe haven for 30 women and children who are enduring homelessness or unstable crisis situations; or at Royal Pines in Blount County, our rural residential addiction recovery center for 45 men.

Klein Community is an educational and charitable non-profit dedicated to providing relief to the poor, disadvantaged and underprivileged. The organization works to unite diverse individuals, businesses, and churches to share resources, meeting physical and spiritual needs locally and globally. Their vision is to share resources for the purpose of building relationships to ignite restoration of individuals, families, and communities. Grace Klein Community meets a wide range of physical and emotional needs, including providing food, diapers and wipes, school supplies, Christmas gifts, and more. In 2024, Grace Klein Community shared 263,875 food boxes, provided 2,242,991 meals, made 2,022 home deliveries, and - through collaboration with food distribution partners - fed over 617,000 individuals across 30 counties. The organization is looking to expand their food rescue initiative into Pelham. They are currently raising $2.4 million to purchase and renovate a new space in a new suburban city.
