I wouldn't survive without either. Knowing what to post well ahead of time and batching out content keeps me on track and moving forward, without last minute panic about social media posts...

What's one thing in your business you wish you could hire out?

That task, no matter how small it is, that you hate, that you keep putting off, even though you know you need to get it done.

Is it something that only you can do or can be hired out?

If you keep putting it off and it causes you that much stress, there's a good chance your business will grow as soon as you hire it out. Hiring it out means you get to go back to the parts of your business you love, that parts only you can do.

Mine is creating fillable PDFs. I can do it but I hate it. It ends up taking me all day long.

Or I can hire someone on Fiverr and they have it done in less than 24 hours and I can concentrate on tasks only I can do.

Business owners, stop trying to market your business like a creator. You are not the same.

Creators are aiming for mass views in order to get affiliate kickbacks from sponsors.

Business owners are trying to sell products and offers.

Creators are trying to go viral to go viral to monetize their audience.

Business owner are trying to generate leads.

Use social media to market your business, not act like an influencer.

Growing your followers to grow your followers is a "vanity metric." Lots of followers does not equal more money in your business. Connecting with your niche customers and clients does.

My Alaskan business is seasonal. Why do I need social media all year long?

You miss out on opportunities to build relationships with new clients and your old clients will forget about you and move on. You may not need to post AS often as you do during your busy season, but don't stop all together!

Share local happenings. Use this time to ask your customers what they think about new products, what they'd like to see from you.

I'm definitely NOT saying don't take a break. I've taken a month long break from my social media, but my website and SEO was still working for me. I still got consultation requests, signed on new clients, and still grew, just a bit slower. And my mental health thanked me for it.

Give yourself a vacation from social media in your down season for sure. Just don't forget to pick it back up!

It's a subject that no one likes to talk about, but we NEED to. Alaska has some of the worst numbers in the nation when it comes to human trafficking and that needs to change now.

Here are my suggestions for the best marketing books that I believe every business owner should read. Especially if you are just getting started.

I’m a bookworm- through and through. Fiction or non-fiction, I plow through them all. I’ve read a few marketing books that aren’t bad, but you won’t find them on this list. These are the books that I find myself recommending again and again and going back to re-read over and over again myself.

These aren’t all just about marketing. Some of them are just about starting a business, but most of them come back to advertising and marketing. Enjoy!
