“We give manufactured chemicals more rights than we give criminal defendants.” Let that sink in.

For years, I operated under the assumption that if a product was on a store shelf, it was safe. I trusted that *someone* was checking.

The shocking reality is that of the 86,000+ chemicals on the U.S. Chemical Substance Control Inventory, the vast majority have never been tested for their long-term impact on our health.

When I first learned this, I felt overwhelmed and, honestly, a little betrayed. I know the alphabet soup of acronyms—BPA, PFAS, VOCs—can be intimidating. So, I put this guide together to break it down. Swipe through to learn what they are, where they hide, and the simple, powerful steps you can take to start avoiding them.

This information is the entire reason I started my ‘cleaning rebellion.’ It’s not just about having a tidy house; it’s about environmental empowerment.

What’s one small change you’ve made on your journey to a less toxic home?

Have you ever stopped to wonder why Windex is that iconic bright blue color?

For decades, we’ve been trained to associate that specific shade of blue with sparkling, streak-free windows. But here’s a little secret from cleaning history: the blue dye has absolutely zero cleaning power. It does nothing to fight dirt or grime.

Back in the 1930s, Windex was sold in clear glass bottles. The company added the blue dye for one reason only: to make it stand out on the shelf and look distinct from plain water. It was a marketing gimmick, and it worked so well that an entire industry followed suit. This is a perfect example of how we're sold unnecessary ingredients that have nothing to do with a product's effectiveness.

It’s a core part of the cleaning rebellion: questioning what’s actually in our bottles and realizing that a true, safe clean doesn’t need a specific color or scent. Ready to ditch the dye for a better way to get a streak-free shine?

The unspoken milestone when you find yourself squinting at the back of a cleaning bottle, wondering what half of those ingredients actually are. 👀

That was a major turning point for me. I started questioning why the products meant to make our homes healthier were filled with mysterious chemicals and warning labels. It’s what started my entire rebellion against the conventional idea of 'clean.' 🏴‍☠️

Because true peace of mind isn’t just a sparkling counter—it’s knowing you've created a safe space for your family, free from harmful ingredients. It's about simplicity and trust, right down to the label. 🧴

What cleaning product or ingredient was the turning point for you? 💬

Take a look under your kitchen sink. If it’s anything like mine used to be, it’s a graveyard of half-used plastic bottles, each one promising to be the magic solution for a different surface.

You’ve got the glass cleaner, the multi-purpose spray, the granite polish, the dusting aerosol, and the endless supply of paper towels to go with them. We’re taught that we need a different chemical for every mess, but the truth is, it’s just expensive, wasteful, and cluttered.

🏴‍☠️ This is the rebellion. Six Norwex products clean 90% of my home because ultra-fine microfiber and (just) water remove up to 99% of bacteria from my surfaces.

No chemicals, no waste, no clutter. Just a simpler, healthier, and more effective way to clean.

Ready to swap the clutter for the cloths? Comment 'WATER' and I’ll DM you the link to my favorite Norwex essentials!

My story with cleaning didn't start with a Pinterest-perfect home or a love for tidying up. It started when I was a kid.

After my mom had an accident that left her paralyzed, I took over the cleaning. I cleaned the way I was taught, with a cabinet full of harsh chemicals like ammonia, bleach, and abrasive powders. It was just what you did.

Years later, as a busy working mom to four daughters, I started to question what I was bringing into our home. I began with food, swapping processed snacks for prepped meals. But that took time I didn't have, so I outsourced the cleaning to make it all work.

Then came the lightbulb moment. I was spending over $4,000 a year on cleaning services AND products filled with the exact kind of chemicals I was trying to protect my family from. It felt like I was running in circles.

That's when I decided to rebel. I rebelled against the idea that 'clean' has a smell, that you have to spend a fortune to get it done, and that being eco-friendly is complicated.

Now, I help others find that same freedom. It’s about more than just cleaning products; it’s about taking back your time, your money, and your peace of mind.

Welcome to the rebellion.

It started with one innocent banana I forgot about on the counter. Next thing I know, my kitchen has been invaded by a tiny, buzzing army.

Fruit flies are the official party crashers of summer, and they are seriously persistent. If you’re fighting the same fight, here's how to reclaim your kitchen.

Follow my simple, 3-step, non-toxic battle plan:

1️⃣ **The Preemptive Strike:** Wash all your produce the moment you bring it home. This rinses away any eggs that might be hitching a ride.

2️⃣ **The Drain Ambush:** They love to breed in the gunk in your sink drain. Before bed, carefully pour a kettle of boiling water down the drain and then pop in a sink stopper overnight to block their escape route.

3️⃣ **The Classic Trap:** This one never fails. In a small bowl, mix about 2 ounces of apple cider vinegar with a few drops of dish soap. The vinegar attracts them, and the soap breaks the surface tension so they can't escape.

Stick with it for a few days, and you'll have your kitchen back in no time.

Have you tried this before or do you have another secret weapon against fruit flies?

Welcome to 'WTF Wednesday,' where we tackle those home messes that make you say... well, you know.

This week's culprit? A full-blown fruit fly invasion, thanks to all this glorious end-of-summer produce. If your kitchen has also been taken over by a tiny, annoying air force, you're not alone. Here are a few ways to fight back:

1️⃣ Wash your fruit as soon as you get home to remove any lingering eggs.
2️⃣ Pour boiling water down your drains at night to clear them out.
3️⃣ Set a trap! A little apple cider vinegar and a drop of dish soap does the trick.

For that last one, I found the most clever, reusable, and frankly, stylish upgrade to the old plastic-wrap-and-a-jar method. This little trap from Ugrowusa is an eco-friendly solution that actually works, and it's from a small business!

It's a win for my kitchen and a win for sustainability. Want to check it out? Comment TRAP and I’ll send you the link! ♻️
