MAGNOLIA SESSIONS ANNOUNCEMENT! One of the two Magnolia Sessions releases set to come out on November 7th is coming from none other than of (IV and the Strange Band). It is an absolute honor to be able to introduce the world to Coleman as a solo artist, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t bring the Strange Boys along for a few tracks. Check out the single ‘What’s Due’ while you WAIT PATIENTLY for the entire session to drop.

was one of the longer Magnolia Sessions that I recorded. Not only did he record over 80 songs during the 2 days he tracked. That was actually the SECOND time we recorded his Magnolia Session. After the first time recording it, Willi immediately recorded Peculiar, Missouri then went on a nonstop tour, only pausing long enough to record Critterland. During this period we chose to hold off on releasing it, so as to not bungle the promotion of those albums. It only seemed right to track a new batch of songs when we circled back around, and I’m so glad we did. Not that there was anything wrong with the first batch of songs, I just feel that what we ended up doing in the long run was absolutely PERFECT.

was one of my favorite sessions from the first year. Aside from having really great songs, she is incredibly musically consistent. Like, I don’t think she did many multiple takes of any of her songs. And stylistically her music embodies the vibe we were setting out to achieve with the Magnolia Sessions. The swampiness of her slide playing went so perfectly with the crickets in the background. Do yourself a favor and listen to her Magnolia Session RIGHT NOW. Tell your boss it is required, and threaten to fire THEM if they protest.

was the 2nd Magnolia Session that I released. It was also one of the most fun ones in terms of atmosphere and hanging out with friends. As you can see in the pictures it was a pretty laid back day. Kids running around in the background. Kids running around recording songs. One of my favorite pictures from all of the sessions we did is slide 5. We used this as a promo shot but cropped his feet out. I’ve always thought it was funny how serious he looks from the knees up, but the full picture really captures the essence of how that entire day went.

A little throwback to the release that started it all. The Magnolia Sessions started with a wild idea that literally developed in my head as I mowed the lawn one day. I brought the concept up to a few artists and was met with equal parts enthusiasm and skepticism. Honestly, I had no idea if it would work out as I envisioned it at all. Matt was one of the enthusiastic ones (funny side note: even the skeptics ended up recording sessions). He gave me all the rope I needed on the production and release side to make the very first session into something remarkable. And for that I am eternally grateful! Here’s to hoping the new year of releases is as impactful as the first two. , thank you x1,000,000!!

…and we are BACK. All new recordings for The Magnolia Sessions coming this fall! I’ve already recorded most of the sessions for the next year’s worth of releases. Artists you love! Artists you are soon to love! Artists you didn’t even know existed, but will have no choice but to love because they are so dang awesome! I’m changing up the release schedule a bit to make sure each release gets proper attention. Instead of releasing a new session every month, you will now get 2 artists at a time every 2 months! Same awesome vibe! Stay tuned for info on the first pair of sessions in the coming weeks.
