🌸 A P R I L W R A P U P 🌸

April was a good month 💛

I love keeping up to date with my book tracker.

I knew the 3rd week of the month I wasn’t going to read much (out of town) but I wasn’t expecting to read over 1k pages the week before. So that kinda helped me hit my goal.

My favorite read was The Persistence of Thornes by My order has shipped, ordered the whole Wildflower series! Can’t wait until it gets here, going to be soooo pretty!

I read 2 non fictions and I don’t rate those as I don’t want to rate someone’s life story.

Caleb Thorne, her single charming neighbor, who brings both comfort and complications to her life. Their relationship develops naturally as Halle navigates her responsibilities and personal growth.

Micalea’s writing beautifully captures the emotional depth and chemistry between the characters, set against a cozy small-town backdrop. The narrative balances romance with real-life challenges, making Halle’s connection with Caleb that much more rewarding. It’s a touching and uplifting read that leaves you wanting more, and ooooh do I want more.

This was the easiest 5 star book so far this year! When I heard that Micalea was writing Caleb’s story I was ecstatic! Even tho it was Salem and Thayers storyline in the Wildflower Duet I wanted more of Caleb. Aaaaaand we got it.

Now I’d like to see more of their story along with seeing something from Laith, the twins and Seda. I definitely want more from Cynthia/Thelma and the twins. Their friendship was so refreshing and cute.

The only qualm I have with the book was that the last conflict felt a little rushed and out of place with the rest of the story. Other than that it was still a 5 star read for me.

Can’t wait to see what else Micalea has up her sleeves.

The Persistence of Thornes by Micalea Smeltzer is now live!

Hawthorne Mills is supposed to be my chance to start over with my brothers. Becoming their guardian wasn’t the plan, but I’ll do anything it takes to keep them from being put in the system. Even if it means raising two teenage boys when I’m only twenty-three.

There’s one thing I don’t expect.

Caleb Thorne.

He’s literally descended from the founding family of the town and practically royalty here.

And also my new neighbor.

Which makes him privy to every screw up I make trying to navigate being a parental figure to my younger brothers.

It should be easy enough for me to avoid him but he’s annoyingly persistent in wanting to help me. I call it pity even if he insists it’s not.

The worst part is there’s undeniable chemistry between us and the more time we spend together the harder it becomes to resist.

But nothing good in my life has ever lasted so I fully expect Caleb to be another of those temporary things.

This book…

As someone who hasn’t had any children yet, but LOVE them with my entire being…this was a tough read.

To experience the s**t that women go thru after giving birth…postpartum depression and postpartum OCD among a lot of other things.

I don’t mention trigger warnings a lot but because of the subject of the book & because the author made a point to mention it but if you are experiencing PPD and/or postpartum OCD please do not read this book until you are better.

I am having the HARDEST time getting into Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.

I don’t know if it’s the writing style, the characters or what, but I just can’t get into it.

I’m somewhere in chapter 2 & it’s DRAGGING on. Does it get better? Or should I just DNF it.

I completed 8 books, making my total for the year 20 books.

I started the year out with two 5 star reads & had high hopes for the month. Ended the month with two 2 star reads.

I have my TBR for April kinda of set up. I chose about 10 books, physical & ebooks, that I’ll just try to work my way thru.

I read Salt Kiss without realizing it’s part of a series…aaaaand I didn’t realize I had purchased the prequel in 2023 on my kindle 😅 so here I am reading about Isolde & how she comes to be betrothed to Mark after already knowing about her. Don’t mind me, I’m just over here in my own world 😊

The Virgin Su!cides(Not sure if I can type the actual word or not) has been on my shelf for years & never knew it was a movie also. My parents had chosen this as one of my A-Z reading challenge books & it’s time to read it.
