Great start of the day with a tour of a Gen4 fulfillment facility in NJ. (Last time we saw a Gen9 site).

Seeing how Amazon has built this 1.5 million square foot facility is the first center in the system (over 50 sites like this) to ship over a million packages in a 24 hour day - is quite thought provoking. This site has the nickname Beast of the East because of that. (Now many of the sites easily ship over a million packages a day.)

The robotics, automation, systems and processes, the level of detail is astounding.

Unpopular post incoming. . .

Thanksgiving meals usually orbit around turkey, yet I have never been able to convince myself that it deserves the spotlight.

I do not crave it.
I do not count down to it.
I mostly stare at it and wonder why.
Why we all keep pretending this is the height of holiday joy?!

(The stuffing, yum, is another story!)

It is wild how much of our holiday table is shaped by whatever TV and media told us a Thanksgiving meal should look like. A perfectly roasted bird, an identical spread, a script everyone is supposed to follow just so Martha Stewart is happy.

I think for many it turns a celebration into a performance instead of something rooted in who we are and what we actually enjoy.

So we are rewriting it. Turkey is stepping aside. Korean short ribs are stepping in.
Slow cooked, deeply savory, the kind of dish that fills the room with the feeling of home. It tastes like our story, not someone else’s expectations. That is the energy I want at our table.

Traditions start the moment you decide to create something that genuinely fits your people.

What is one thing on the Thanksgiving dinner table you would gladly swap out, and what would you replace it with?

I keep telling people I am hopeful about the future of the church, and it is not because of the obvious trends.

The hope comes from places most leaders overlook.

There is a shift happening in how pastors think in private…

I see more leaders asking deeper questions about pace, purpose, and what their work should feel like.
AI becomes a tool that clears the noise.
It gives them space to think with intention again.
This is quiet, but it changes everything.

There is a change in how people search for meaning…

They are not looking for quick answers.
They are looking for steady voices that help them form a view of the world that feels anchored.
When churches speak into that with clarity, the message lands.
This is one of the reasons I believe the coming decade will surprise people.

There is also a growing curiosity inside younger leaders…

They want to build things that serve their church in ways older models never imagined.
When they use AI to support that work, the pace of learning goes up and the creativity multiplies.

Most people only notice the output.
I notice the hunger behind it.

These 3 currents fuel my optimism.

Not because they are loud, but because they are steady and repeating.

They point toward a church that still has room to grow in wisdom, thought, and imagination.

This is why my mission feels clear.
Reach 5 percent of churches in North America in 5 years with training and encouragement.

If you want to follow along with this work, stay connected.

Many leaders sense that the Church is drifting into a new era, and the pace is faster than most expected.

Here is the argument that more people need to say out loud.

1. People now treat the internet like a private counselor.

They bring fears, doubts, and spiritual questions to a search bar.
They trust that space more than many real relationships.
This shapes the first stage of spiritual formation in a quiet way.

2. Curiosity is growing outside traditional patterns.

A large number of people explore faith while sitting alone.
They watch sermons in fragments.
They ask serious questions in private chats.
This behavior is now the center of early discipleship for many.

3. Pastors now carry 2 responsibilities at the same time.

They guide people in rooms with chairs and stages.
They also must guide them in spaces that feel private to the user.
This dual role is now part of ministry expectations and it will not reverse.

4. Systems reveal the strength of a church more than inspiration does.

A church with weak systems cannot support new people.
A church with clear pathways can handle more growth without burning leaders.
Structure determines long term health.

5. Communication shapes trust in a deeper way now.

People look for leaders who speak clearly and steadily.
They look for guidance that connects with the way they actually live.
They look for honest voices that do not hide behind vague ideas.

6. Churches that act early will shape the direction for others.

They will build systems that match how people search for connection.
They will teach in ways that match how people learn.
They will set the pace for the next decade of ministry.

7. If this matches what you think needs to happen, drop a number from 1 to 10 in the comments.
10 means you agree the most.

In the Age of AI, the Church Must Become Fluent in Meaning
Churches don’t need to become experts on AI tools.
They need to become experts on what matters.

As AI gets better at generating content, drafting communications, and even creating sermon outlines, there’s a temptation to either resist it entirely or chase every new tool that emerges.

But here’s what I believe → → →

→ The church’s competitive advantage has never been efficiency. It’s been meaning.

→ AI can write a prayer, but it can’t discern what a congregation needs to hear on Sunday.

→ AI can draft an email, but it can’t sense when someone needs a pastoral visit instead.

→ AI can generate small group questions, but it can’t create the sacred space where transformation happens.

The role of church leaders is shifting:

From creators of content → to curators of meaning

From generators of information → to guides toward wisdom

From producers of material → to cultivators of presence

This means:
Leaders need to get better at asking the right questions, not finding the right prompts.

Churches need to deepen theological reflection, not just speed up administrative tasks.

Pastors need to invest in relationships, discernment, and spiritual formation at levels never before required.

AI can be a powerful tool that frees ministry leaders from the mechanical so they can focus on the meaningful.

But only if they remember: the calling isn’t to be efficient. It’s to be present, wise, and deeply human in a world that’s increasingly automated.

The red herring is mastering AI.

The need is about mastering what AI can never replicate.

What does “fluency in meaning” look like in your context? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

You try new apps.
You explore ChatGPT.
You read about AI.

Still, it all feels scattered.

You keep wondering, “How do I make this actually work for ministry?”

Here’s the truth most leaders miss:
The power of AI isn’t in the prompts.
It’s in the process.

You don’t need more tools.
You need systems that think with you.

That’s what Agentic AI is about—AI that doesn’t just answer, it acts.
It searches, formats, drafts, and delivers.
It works like a teammate, not a tab.

This week, we’re diving deep into that shift in the Agentic AI for Ministry Workshop.

You’ll learn how to:
→ Build an AI agent that actually runs parts of your ministry.
→ Keep your message authentic and Christ-centered.
→ Reclaim your time for the work only humans can do.

Spots are almost gone, and we’re closing registration soon.

If you’ve felt like AI could help your ministry but haven’t seen it click yet, this is your moment to see it in action.
