Jacobthewilliam.BEATS My Two Cents I Can Offer You:

I did not start making music as a way of gaining fame. That's why I make music. But it comes at a price. Completely driven.

THROUGH HIS MUSIC, HE AIMS TO UPLIFT AND EMPOWER OTHER STRUGGLING ARTISTS BY REMINDING THEM THAT THEY TOO HAVE THE STRENGTH WITHIN THEMSELVES TO MAKE CHANGES & HAVE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE WORLD

jacobthewilliam.bandcamp.com The reason I started making music is because it is a central part of who I am and what I do. Being a social introvert most my life growing up, it

was a tool from which allowed me to simply just let it all out. In fact, it took several years before I even built up enough courage to share my music with anyone else. I have no other way of putting it - I have to make music or I would burst. Of all the things that music has taught me, is that it comes at a price. If you want it enough and don't care how long it takes, you can have it. The price is that you have to be totally single minded. And that you have to value small successes above security, stability, peace of mind, certainty, comfort, having money in your pocket, friendship, love, or family. Because those are the very things you're competing against. You're also competing against a million of other monsters who are so driven that that's the thing that they do. And that's why the big stars are all divorced, are drug addicts, have breakdowns or even commit suicide. I've been there. The pressures of living that kind of life are enormous. All you want is for people to love you through your music. But my advice to you based on my experience: I can tell you that that kind of love isn't worth that kind of price, and I personally would recommend to you that you should aim for a balanced life and making great relationships, and great art - because through great relationships comes great art. And let the other stuff take care of itself. If you can focus on integrity, creativity, innovation, originality, staying positive, finding your strength, and pushing your boundaries -That's the way to make the best possible music. You must be a rounded human being and you have a balanced life... and it starts from being true to yourself and those who care about you most. Anyway, that's my advice to you. Take it or leave it - I would like to share one more thing: Probably my favorite quote by my most favorite creator of all time:
[ "This song is Copyrighted in U.S., under Seal of Copyright #154085, for a period of 28 years, and anybody caught singin it without our permission, will be mighty good friends of ours, cause we don't give a dern! Publish it. Sing it. Swing to it. Yodel it. We wrote it, that's all we wanted to do." - Woody Guthrie ]

------------------------------------------------

I’m a multi-genre producer from Portland, OR. I've been writing, programing, performing and producing for 18 years now since I was a young boy. That is when I started out playing drums and eventually, taught myself all the other instruments as well. I got hooked on hip-hop & making beats by the time I turned 13 or so. Now I'd like to take a moment to point out that back in those days there were no computers yet. In fact at that age I managed to figure out a way to layer sounds on top one another by using two separate tape decks i would switch the tape back and forth maintaining the pause button in order to keep both decks in sync. I eventually saved up all my money and got a few drum machines (Roland mc- 303, Dr. Groove 202 & later a Dr. Sample and Emu MP7) and recorded onto Adats (wow) as well as a Fostex vf160 hard disk recorder. This was all I needed. My entire teenage and adolescence was consumed by these devices. It was the coolest thing to me. I was the only kid in Jr. High and High School who was recording music and I even started selling beats at 16. I had hundreds of them by the time I graduated. All my various drafts were mixed and written directly to CD at the same time while mixing down… So... if that hi-hat was too loud... I had to start over completely and had to remember my effects settings that I’d hopefully written down, mix it live by hand all the way through, and burn it again to CD to hear the results. The term “automation” was not part of my vocabulary back then. Consequently, I had thousands of CD's everywhere you could imagine... all of them getting scratched and over time just about every one of them became unplayable. Today, I regret not taking care of them because god knows the amount of my own recorded music that I’ve lost. If it is not a memory and if it is not documented - then it is lost forever! oh man those were the days!!! The point being that it wasn't like some friend of mine gave me a torrent of FL studio like most all the producers of today... man.. Anyway...
Technology has grown exponentially since I started at age 12! I try my best to keep up with it but must admit that I seek to find workflow that works best for me. Whether or not it is the proven best way to do something - I dont really care! That’s a non-issue for me. Old and forgotten about technology? I haven’t forgot!! If I’ve spent hundreds of intimate hours of personal time with a piece of technology - I won’t forget it! Ive always worked at a lightning fast pace. This is because my time around music has taught me that magic/spirit is a fleeing thing. Its important to harness this & capture the moment before it escapes. Before the vibes die off or the energy dissipates.
