We built out first home on 2.5 acres of land in 2020, and have been riding the wave ever since.

Welcome to our corner of the world where we share our journey through self-sufficient gardening and raising livestock on our land.

Who said raising chickens would be easy?!

We stopped the bleeding by using flour and applying pressure. He hated that lol we rinsed his foot and then sprayed blu-kote on the broken nail. Not sure what to do now- does it fall off by itself or will I need to remove it?

Spotted a busv little bee on my coneflower (echinacea) today - planted these seeds last Spring and they decided to bloom this year. I honestly forgot all about them lol the area they're growing in has been covered for the last 6-8 months to suppress weeds in preparation for a flower garden. Looks like I got a head start!
A constant reminder in gardening- practice a little patience and let nature do it's thing ✨️

One of those days when you're watching the sunset, and it feels like everything is working out exactly how God planned it to be

Yall my bell peppers are turning purple! I can’t even begin to explain how excited this makes me lol I'm so used to the traditional green, red, yellow and orange colors which I love them all. But never have I had a purple bell pepper. I can't wait to take a bite

I love how flowers bloom when they want, wherever they want. Naturally. These wild flowers sprung up in front of my garden and took over this little 2x4 raised bed. This variety of flower is called Plains Coreopsis, but is considered an annual so they may not return next year. Not only are they beautiful, they've also brought a gang of butterflies and bees to help bring my garden to life!

Testing out a new trick to keep my chickens from pecking at each other! Interested to see if they like it. I put a pot of basil in after installing the cabbage and it's already gone! I'll definitely keep it in rotation

My sweet potato slips are coming along nicely!

One thing I've learned while growing broccoli, there's a short window between the time it starts to form the center head and before it flowers. It tastes so much better than any broccoli I've had in store. The struggle is keeping the pests away

The gworls and roos are getting bigger by the day!

Gave my chickens a little boost to their feed by adding oregano, basil and red pepper flakes. Somebody in another group said I'm seasoning them from the inside lol

I didn't intend on eating any of my chickens when we first got them, I just wanted fresh eggs! But now I'm like 🤔😂
