Today, HBCU Mister and Miss is proud to spotlight Laila Duncan (Laila D💙), newly elected Miss Freshman representing the Class of 2030 at Fayetteville State University!

Hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Laila is a Psychology major dedicated to using her platform to ease the transition from high school to college, foster campus involvement, and strongly advocate for mental health.

Anchored by her campaign theme “Just Do It,” Laila aims to break barriers for incoming students, empowering her peers to step outside their comfort zones, take initiative, and lead without fear. Guided by faith and a passion for uplifting others, Miss Freshman Duncan is ready to make a lasting, compassionate impact across the FSU community throughout her reign.

Hailing from Greenwood, South Carolina, Elijah is a Business Administration major who came to FSU with a clear mission: step out of his comfort zone and leave a lasting, positive mark on his campus community.

Outside of his academic pursuits, Elijah is an active cadet in the Air Force ROTC program at Fayetteville State, where he is sharpening his commitment to leadership, military discipline, and selfless service. His goal is to commission as an Air Force officer, bringing the core values developed during his time on “The Resilient” campus into his military career. Entering his reign, Mister Freshman Booker is focused on inspiring his peers to unlock their potential, embrace leadership, and work together to elevate the freshman experience.

Today, HBCU Mister and Miss is proud to spotlight Jose Millan (joey), who was officially certified and announced by the Student Government Association (Prairie View A&M University Student Government Association) on September 21, 2026, as the newly elected Mister Freshman representing the Class of 2030 at Prairie View A&M University!

Hailing from Freeport, Texas, Jose is a Chemistry major with a concentration in Forensic Science. A former Student Body Treasurer at Brazosport High School, his dedication to servant leadership and community advocacy has been central to his collegiate journey from day one.

Entering his reign during Prairie View’s landmark 150th anniversary, Jose is guided by his platform, U.N.L.V. (Unity, Nurturing excellence, Leadership, Volunteerism). His term focuses on advocating for student needs, cultivating academic success, encouraging active service, and ensuring the Class of 2030 sets a lasting standard of excellence on campus. Guided by faith and a drive to create new opportunities, Mister Freshman Millan is dedicated to bringing unity and achievement to the Panther nation.

BALTIMORE, MD — Grounded in service, brotherhood, and student advocacy, new leadership rises at Maryland’s National Treasure. Today, HBCU Mister and Miss is proud to report on Uyi-Osa Osayuki Ogbeide (Osa), newly elected Mister Freshman representing the Class of 2030 at Morgan State University!

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Uyi-Osa is an Information Systems major who stepped into leadership from his very first week on campus. After settling into his dorm, he immediately volunteered during Move-In Week to assist incoming freshmen and families, setting a clear tone of servant leadership.

Running on his strategic platform, W.E.B. (Wellness, Engagement, and Building), Uyi-Osa enters his term committed to elevating the freshman experience. His agenda focuses on holistic student wellness, active campus engagement, peer mentorship, leadership development, financial literacy, and career preparation. Believing that true leadership means standing alongside his peers rather than above them, Mister Freshman Ogbeide is set to build a connected, empowered foundation for the Class of 2030.

BALTIMORE, MD — Inspiring young scholars to step into leadership and embrace new opportunities, HBCU Mister and Miss is proud to feature Kevin Looney III (3x.kev), Mister Sophomore representing Coppin State University!

Raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kevin is a Management Information Systems major within Coppin State’s College of Business. Beyond his role on the Royal Court, Kevin’s leadership is deeply woven into campus life. He serves as the Treasurer for the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and actively participates in S.M.O.O.T.H. (Strong Men Overcoming Obstacles Through Hardwork), an organization dedicated to male empowerment, mentorship, and brotherhood.

Guided by his platform F.E.A.R. (Face Everything And Rise), Kevin enters his term with a clear mission: to show students that it is not scary to step into leadership positions. He aims to encourage Black youth to step outside their comfort zones, pursue higher education, and complete their degrees. Following graduation, Kevin plans to pursue his Master’s degree while continuing to build a legacy that makes his family and community proud.

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Egypt is a dedicated scholar dual-focused in Marketing and Biology whose leadership footprint touches every corner of campus. Her commitment to Jaguar Nation shines through her involvement in Top Jaguars, Biology Jaguars, the Association of Women Students, and Peach State Jaguars. Extending her service beyond organizational leadership, she also serves as a Resident Assistant and successfully organized a community clothing donation drive for underserved families.

Operating under her campaign vision, “Royalty in the Making,” and guided by Jeremiah 29:11, Egypt’s term as Miss Junior is centered on leading with heart, resilience, and authenticity. Hailing from Havre de Grace in Harford County, Maryland, Shiloah is an honors scholar in the Clara I. Adams Honors College studying Business Administration and Management.

Running on her platform, “Setting the Pace: Excellence Starts Here,” Shiloah enters her term on a mission to reshape the freshman experience. Moving away from the narrative that the first year of college is purely about survival, her focus is on establishing early momentum through peer support, collaborative growth, and intentional community building across the Bear family.

ORANGEBURG, SC — The Class of 2030 at Claflin University has officially selected its freshman class officers. South Aiken High School graduate and Mass Communications major Jayden Broughton (Jayden Broughton) has been elected Freshman Class President following a campaign centered on student representation, campus engagement, and service.

A native of Aiken, South Carolina, Broughton campaigned on his signature R.I.S.E. platform—an acronym standing for Represent, Inspire, Serve, and Empower. Beyond his class leadership role, Broughton is actively engaged across the Orangeburg campus through leadership in Rising Kangs and contributing to sports media coverage for Claflin Athletics. Aspiring to pursue a career as a news and sports reporter after graduation, he brings a media-driven, communicative approach to student advocacy.

As Freshman Class President, Broughton aims to foster an inclusive culture for the incoming class and strengthen unity on “The Hilltop” through service-oriented initiatives and active student engagement.

DURHAM, NC — Few campus leaders enter their freshman year having already trained and empowered over 1,000 young women in their community. Today, HBCU Mister and Miss is proud to showcase Victoria Townsend (Victoria Townsend), the newly elected Miss Freshman at North Carolina Central University!

A native of Montgomery County, Maryland, Victoria is a double major in Political Science and Spanish with a concentration in Global Politics, a minor in Hispanophone African Studies on a Pre-Law track, and definitive ambitions of serving as an international diplomat.

Beyond the classroom, Victoria holds a Black Belt in Kung Fu & Tai Chi and has served as a martial arts instructor for five years. She translated her discipline into grassroots advocacy by founding “Self-Defense for Girls,” an initiative that has already trained over 1,000 young women in Maryland in physical and verbal self-protection. Now at NCCU, she is bringing and expanding this high-impact program directly to the Durham community.

Her commitment to service extends across campus as Fundraiser Chair for the Political Science Club, a PRIDE Pathfinder mentor through Circle K, a Spanish-language youth mentor with Durham Youth Forward (DYF), and a mentee in the Heart to Heart (H2H) program. Guided by her personal motto, “Soaring high, boldly, and together,” Miss Freshman Townsend is ready to bridge campus divides and lead her class into a new era of civic action at North Carolina Central University.
