We want to thank everyone who has been reaching out to Pool Envy®. We truly appreciate your calls and interest. Over the past few months, however, we’ve received many calls asking for quick “quotes.” We need to kindly let our community know: we no longer provide ballpark pricing over the phone.

As licensed contractors in Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas (WI Dwelling Contractor #012100046, WI DCQ #112001269, WI Electrical Contractor #1543940-EC, WI HVAC Contractor #1543940-HVACCONT, FL CPC1460695, TX TICL #1350, TX RAIL #635643), we are held to strict standards of accuracy and safety. Giving out numbers or advice without a proper site evaluation can create liability, mislead a homeowner, and in some cases even violate licensing rules.

It’s also important to note: prices given by licensed contractors can be considered binding. In situations such as divorce, estate valuations, or insurance disputes, a “number over the phone” can pull us into legal or personal conflicts we have no business being part of. A formal paid Safety & System Evaluation protects everyone — it gives you accurate documentation, protects us from unwanted disputes, and ensures your project is designed and serviced to code.

✅ If you desire a consultation, please understand we will need your full property address in advance. This allows us to properly prepare, check code requirements, and provide you with an accurate, professional evaluation.

If you’re only price-shopping, we may not be the right fit. But if you value licensed expertise, code-compliant construction, and long-term peace of mind, we’d be honored to serve you.

Thank you for supporting a professional approach that puts safety and quality first.

It was a nice week in the Windermere Community reviewing safety for swimming pool owners. I even made a stop at Disney's Polynesian Resort for some nachos before flying back! 🌴✈️

Now—here’s something you may never think about, but it absolutely matters: your swimming pool’s electrical panel.

📸 (Photo below: an older panel without GFCI breakers)

Why This Matters

Under Florida Law (F.S. 489.105(3)(j)), a Certified Pool Contractor (CPC) is authorized to construct, repair, and service swimming pools and spas. I hold CPC1460695, registered to Pool Envy, LLC.

That licensure doesn’t just mean “building pools.” It also carries a responsibility to educate homeowners about pool safety—especially electrical safety, which is rarely discussed and often misunderstood.

💡 Fact: Electricity and water don’t mix.
That’s why the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) was invented. GFCIs sense when electricity goes where it shouldn’t and instantly shut off the power. But here’s the catch—you must have them installed for them to protect you.

This particular pool was built before GFCIs were required. No code forces an automatic upgrade, so the panel still had no GFCI protection. Worse, it was also missing a panel spacer—a simple part that prevents dangerous gaps between breakers and helps stop accidental contact with live parts.

What You Should Know

✅ GFCIs should be the minimum standard on your pool pump, heater, and any other pool-related electrical equipment.
✅ Newer codes now require GFCI protection whenever a pool pump is replaced or serviced.
✅ If your pump motor looks different from the housing, it may be a “Frankenpump”—a mismatch that could mean your system doesn’t meet safety or manufacturer standards.

My Professional Limit

As a licensed CPC, I can educate, consult, and perform pool-related repairs and renovations. But—I cannot legally change out your breakers. That’s work reserved for a licensed Electrical Contractor (EC) under Florida Statute 489.

If your system needs breaker upgrades or electrical panel work, I connect my clients with trusted, licensed electrical contractors who handle that scope properly.

Closing

I share this information not to scare, but because pool safety saves lives. These details matter, and I’m here to help you navigate them responsibly.

Looking forward to seeing more of the We Love Windermere community when I return in September!

✅ Pool Electrical Safety Matters

When Pool Envy, LLC does an initial consultation, we go beyond water chemistry and equipment. As a licensed electrical contractor in Wisconsin (License #1543940), we start with a safety-first review of your pool’s electrical system.

This sub-panel was missing GFCI breakers. Many pool owners aren’t familiar with what a GFCI does: it detects when electricity is leaking where it shouldn’t and shuts off power fast enough to prevent a shock.

🔹 Example: if a pool light cracks and water gets in, the GFCI trips.
🔹 Or if an older pump motor allows water inside, a GFCI prevents 240V from reaching the pool water.

That’s why we always inspect before committing to repairs or upgrades—because protecting your family is more important than cutting corners.

For this project, we pulled an electrical permit, installed GFCI breakers, resolved other issues, and the system passed inspection. Now the pool is safe, functional, and compliant.

Safety. Insurance. Doing it right. That’s the Pool Envy way.

New handrails? They must be electrically bonded. They must be tied into the existing pool. THEN, it's important to take the additional step of of TESTING continuity of that bonding. Then, you can pour concrete.

Details:
1) The split bolt must be LISTED for "Direct Burial"
2) The bond wire must be #8 copper (or #6 in Canada)
3) It must tie into the existing bond grid

ANCHORING THE INDUSTRY IN STANDARDS
Since the start, my mission has been anchored in STANDARDS, armed with LICENSURE, and driven by UNIMPEACHABLE INTEGRITY.

We have not wavered.
We’ve only dug deeper — with an unbroken, tenacious pursuit of truth.

And at every attempt to intervene, the chaos was doomed from the start.
Their bombastic noise only fueled my passion so deeply that not even evil itself could stand before us.

As my mission takes stronger roots, I’ve welcomed and fostered relationships across the industry — from legal to executive to those determined to keep “right” grounded in industry standards.

Light years ahead of the tired strategy to acquiesce to chaos, we’ve dismantled every attempt to force this industry off course.

We serve pool owners and industry allies who do what’s right.
The rest? We’ll spot your chaos a million miles away, dismantle it before it breathes, and make you the example everyone else learns from.

Any unlicensed individual who attempts to disrupt or mislead the public will be made into an example — serving as a beacon of warning to others — and reported to the proper authorities, held accountable under every applicable regulation until their operations cease.

Pool Envy began as a swimming pool company.
Now, the pool is just the byproduct.

Our true mission is safety.
Standards.
Growth.

We do this to benefit all pool owners, and to honor those in the industry who stand for what’s right.

Rise to that standard… or stay in your corner.

Buying a Home with a Pool?
Why a Standard Home Inspection Often Misses the Big (and Expensive) Problems.

We’ve inspected countless pools where the home inspection gave them a “pass” — but the reality was thousands of dollars in hidden safety, code, and repair issues.

Here’s what we regularly find that most home inspectors aren’t trained or licensed to catch:

Gas meters undersized or gas lines installed incorrectly for pool heaters

Wrong types of pool plumbing or improper routing

Missing locks, gates, or fences that fail safety requirements

Bonding and grounding issues, missing GFCIs, or other electrical hazards

Water chemistry damage to plaster and finishes — sometimes requiring full resurfacing

Expansion joints and movement joints missing, leading to cracking and deck separation

Wear assessments on automatic covers showing failure points

Damaged or aging equipment that will soon require replacement

These aren’t cosmetic issues — they’re safety hazards, code violations, and big-ticket repairs.

We’re one of the only pool contractors licensed in Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas — including Wisconsin Electrical & HVAC Contractor licenses — which means we evaluate pools and their systems to a much higher standard.
