Capital is not the enemy.
Capital builds factories, starts businesses, buys homes, funds inventions, and turns plans into productive reality.
But capital is also power.
Financialization asks one question: What return can this capital produce?
Stewardship asks another: What should this capital build, preserve, and pass forward while producing a return?
Profit matters. An enterprise that cannot sustain itself cannot serve its workers, customers, owners, or country for long.
But when return becomes the only mandate, everything else becomes a line item. Workers become inputs. Communities become costs. Domestic factories become inefficient assets. National resilience disappears because nobody assigned it a quarterly value.
Capital itself will not correct that problem. Capital has no family, hometown, flag, or children who inherit what it leaves behind.
Those loyalties must come from the people who direct it.
The question is not whether capital should earn a return.
The question is whether return should be its only responsibility.
