I’m sharing a post from Lisanne… THANKFULLY edited to include a GoFundMe link. Her original post listed the amazing Chileno for sale. I’m hoping the fundraiser helps enough with her deductible to be able to afford to keep him… He was her mainstay and cross country hero for the Mustang Discovery Ride. Please consider a donation on his/her behalf…

From Lisanne:
EDIT: After many suggestions- I opened a GoFundMe page to try and cover my deductible without Chileno leaving home. If after a week I haven't fundraised enough- I will sell Chileno and refund everyone their donations.

You can donate here:

For those interested in this horse- please reach out and I will still answer any questions. I just won't make a final decision until Tuesday, July 29.

This is the hardest decision my heart has ever made… but I need to find Chileno a new home. Recently I was life flighted (not for a horse accident) and I have some medical bills to pay.

Chileno is a 15hh, 2011 model, dappled buckskin, mustang, from Divide Basin, WY, HMA.

This horse physically carried me from one coast of our great country to the other, 5000 miles from Delaware to California, over the course of 14 months.

Walking 20-25 miles a day, 4-5 days a week, he averaged a 4.25mph walking pace. Working in trotting, his average pace for each day ranged 5-6mph for the day depending on terrain.

Chileno is the ultimate endurance and long riding horse. He’s big, he’s strong, and he’ll go through anything.

His resume is mile long. Was started in the Wyoming Honor Farm prison program and then worked as a Wrangler’s Guide horse on a remote dude ranch in the Gros Ventre Wilderness for 3 seasons. He has done some obstacles and liberty work, but was not meant to be a trick pony. He’s a horse who likes to cover ground. He’s been jumped a tiny bit. He’s been roped off of, but has only drug inanimate objects. (Minus that one time we roped a guy in Missouri and drug him off the beer cooler he was blocking.) Chileno fearlessly led us through the streets of downtown Washington DC and onto the National Mall. He’s carried the mail at a full gallop on the Pony Express. He’s gone through tunnels half a mile long and over bridges 600ft high. You point him, he goes.

With all of that being said though, he can be a knucklehead. This horse never relaxes and never gets tired. Also not the brightest bulb in the box. Chileno loves to be the leader of the herd, but doesn’t always rule fairly.

Everyday on trail when I was riding him, he would spook 2-5 times a day. His spook generally consists of a few big side steps. I have videos to show what I am talking about.

This horse is not for a beginner. He likes to go and he likes to cover ground.

If you’re looking for your next leisure trail horse, I hope you like riding alone or you have friends that are willing to trot all day to keep up with him. He sets a hard pace and he will maintain it all day every day.

Unfortunately, Chileno permanently has Lyme’s disease and it will flare up every 6 months to a year. He first acquired this when came out of Maryland, into West Virginia, and had one flare up when crossing Illinois. I just keep doxycycline on hand and when he has a flare up needs to be rested and treated for two weeks.

Otherwise, this horse is the pinnacle of health.
This horse is a legend and he will be the star of a feature documentary covering our journey across America, to be released in 2025.

There are hours of video of him online here on and YouTube with JA Media.
He is up to date on everything. Vet checks can be made and arranged at adopters expense.

I am asking svn-✋ hundo for him. It's the cost of my out-of-network deductible for my insurance.

He is absolutely a remarkable animal, and I was hoping to compete in the Tevis cup in two years on him. With new health priorities though, he and I will not have the time to train together to reach such an ambitious goal.

Chileno is a horse who wants to work and loves to move. He can sit in the pasture for 6 months and when you go to ride him again, it’s not like a day has gone by. He needs a job though, as he is not happy just sitting around, and that’s why I have come to this difficult decision.

I will not be responding to comments on this post. I have zero time for people who waste my time.

I am a straight shooter, and have nothing to hide. Most every question can be answered by actually reading this post and looking through previous posts, videos, and photos on the MDR page.

Currently located in Pinedale, WY. Can make arrangements to haul anywhere in the US. Willing to do Zoom call meet & greets.
Please help me find this movie star’s forever home by sharing this post and tagging your friends.

Chileno is a rock star and he deserves a legendary home. Please share, share, share.
