This weekend, nestled between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is Small Business Saturday, November 26th.

Just a timely reminder to support your makers and shakers and shop small this holiday season!

WHY SHOP SMALL?
When we choose to shop with local small businesses, approximately 48% of those dollars remain circulating in the local economy compared to only 14% spent at department chain stores!

But, besides purchasing from a small business, there are many other ways to support your pals. I mean, yes. Your money is literally cultivating happiness for that small business owner.
But, you can also:

Why Branding Colors Matter?

Branding colors give a direction straight to your client's hearts. When color theorists, Faber Birren, started to influence color in human life in the 20th century, he prescribed color for a living to governments, schools, armed forces, architects, industry and commerce until it became widely accepted. From that theory, it started how human evolve to see colors beyond preference like 👇

💟Pink is a pretty color.
❤️ A blood red puts people on alert for danger next door.
🤎The browns of dirt and rotten food indeed is distasteful.

But it shouldn't always be the case. Like the farmer and chocolate lovers love the color brown. And in terms of culture, we can easily recognize how green links with money which introduce us by Americans like "spending greens" would resonate with almost everyone. Don't take branding colors for granted. Instead of asking, does branding color work for me? Preferably, ask how do I make brand colors work for me? As there are tons of evidence that it really works.

Indeed, certain colors capture certain emotions. Your brand colors can impact your sales or performance even more than the products you offer. One thing, people can easily recognize a brand by using it repeatedly. By showing it to the world, colors become a part of your brand and using it over and over is like you are inspiring everyone. Some ideas where you can use your branding colors on your site are logo, website, storefront, in-store design, team uniforms and advertisements.

So, choose your branding colors carefully as it directly impacts your brand identity. Just a reminder that it doesn't always help if your favorite color is pink, then it would also be the best branding color for you, NO. It should align with your business goals. So before jumping into colors that you may want to symbolize your business, decide first on your ideal brand personality?

Showing kindness can be so simple, but can make a huge difference to the person who receives your kindness. You can literally make someone's day. So let's use this year's World Kindness Day as a launch pad to show a little kindness every day.

💫 Shop with small independent businesses, especially in the lead up to Christmas. -
As a previous small business owner, I can tell you there are no words to express how much it means when someone chooses to shop with you instead of a big chain or corporation. There are thousands of amazing small businesses out so make their day by choosing to shop with them, especially now in such a difficult economic climate.

💫 Pay it forward -
Next time you're getting your morning coffee, as if you can pay extra so the next one get's theirs for free. Or if there are people behind you ordering, ask if you can secretly pay for their order.

💫 Strike up a conversation with a stranger -
Whether it's at the bus stop, the cashier in the supermarket or someone sitting next to you at a café, strike up a conversation. You never know what you might learn about another person!

💫 Send a message to a loved one telling them how much they mean to you -
Show a loved one a little love out of the blue. Send them a message just simply telling them how much they mean to you or how great they are and put a smile on their face.

💫 Do something for your neighbor -
Maybe bring their bins in on bin day, offer to walk their dog, ask them if they need anything when you run to the shops or offer to clean their car the next time you do yours.

💫 Donate or Volunteer -
Giving to charity can be one of the most impactful things we can do. Donate your old clothes, sign up to give blood or go one step further and give your time by volunteering for a local charity.

Tell me you work in social media without telling me 📲 I’ll go first 🙋🏼‍♀️

▫ You work on your clients Canva account so much, you know their login but not yours.

▫ You have so many open tabs in google chrome that you launch the same platform multiple time because you forgot it was already open.

▫ Your weekly screen time report is 8 hours or over.

▫ You have maxed out the amount of accounts that you are allowed to be logged into at one time on Instagram

▫ Your desktop is so full of downloads and screenshots from Canva that your background only just peaks through

It's the End of Daylight Savings time, and that means we will be turning our clocks 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 an hour! Here are some tips on how to navigate the next couple of weeks:

⏰ Decide on an approach - Planning ahead, or doing nothing. Pros and cons to both!
⏰ Use light to your advantage - Bright light in the morning, and dim/orange light in the evenings, especially after sunset.
⏰ Get outside, the earlier in the day, the better!
⏰ Be kind to yourself, and take care of yourself. Studies show that traffic/workplace accidents and heart attacks increase following a time change. Do whatever you need to do to prioritize rest! ❤️

Gone are the days where paid advertisement was the only reliable tactic for customer acquisition. In 2017, 615 million devices had ad-blocking 🚫 software on them. Imagine how many of the world’s internet users are blocking ads in 2022.

️‍🔥 That’s why your organic content is still so important. I’m not just talking about social media, although a huge chunk of acquisition will come from there. Your blog, your website, your email newsletter, videos, infographics — every piece of content you put out for consumers should provide value while still speak to who you are as a brand. Content provides value, value encourages trust, trust leads to sales, and sales build loyalty.

Starting small is how you establish yourself in your market. By aligning your products/services with a specific group of potential customers, you encourage positive word of mouth as well as positive reviews which can help grow your audience and potential DREAM clients/customers. But, finding your niche for social media can be an overwhelming task at the beginning.

Getting started?
Here's how you to find what your niche should be -
✍️ List and think about: 🤔
✅ The things you love (Passion)
✅ The things you’re good at (Skills)
✅ The things people want (Services)

When you put all these together, the point right in the middle is your sweet spot. Once you've done these steps, speak to people you know and trust. Test out your business idea with as many people as possible. From their feedback, use this to shape your content and tighten up your niche - if you need to.
