County Commissioner actually suggested shooting down drones with a shotgun! We are not attorneys, but let us offer some legal advice. NEVER shoot at a drone! Not only is it against the law, but it is very dangerous to you and everyone else on the ground.

People have been asking us our take on all the recent drone hysteria. Consider these facts:

1. It is perfectly legal for someone with a Part 107 certificate from the FAA to fly a drone at night. We do it all the time. A lot of these drone sightings are likely that. Now that there's nationwide hysteria, how many drone pilots are flying at night just to add to the hysteria?

2. People are not used to looking up at night. So now they are seeing things for the first time, such as aircraft, satellites, and even planets. We got a call from FOX 59 yesterday about a lot of sightings in Plainfield, IN. They sent us pictures and videos. Well, guess what Plainfield borders: the Indianapolis International Airport! Every photo or video we saw appeared to be a plane.

3. Congress has been unsuccessful in trying to ban Chinese-made drones from being sold in America. However, if the American public panics over drones, that increases the likelihood of that ban in the future. I wouldn't put it past them to fan the flames of hysteria to get more anti-drone legislation.

We suggest that everybody calm down. Know that there are a lot of things flying in the sky at night that you've never noticed before. If you would like to further discuss this issue, leave a comment or private message.
