MMM’s YouTube Spotlight:
How about some 50-year-old live Scorpions to start off your Friday morning? This radio broadcast is from 1975 in Essen Germany during the (obviously) Uli Jon Roth era. This post was inspired by Will Carroll's recent blog entry at sanfran666co.com where he describes going to the record tent at the Metal Market after his Death Angel set and right before seeing Iron Maiden at the Graspop Metal Meeting, a heavy metal festival in Belgium. He talks about scoring this Scorps show on vinyl, so I immediately ran over to YouTube to see if it was posted.

Success - gotta love the internet. Thanks for the heads-up, Will!

Enjoy.

MMM’s YouTube Spotlight:
Need some freshly-spawned speed metal? I give you Nefarious, a new San Francisco thrash band that recently exploded onto the Bay Area metal scene and will soon be taking the world by storm. A new band, but with veteran players dating back to the very early 80’s, with over 200 years of experience! I heard in a recent interview that they don’t consider themselves a “supergroup”, but I'm calling them one. Check out this impressive brutal pedigree:

Katon W. De Pena (vocals) – Hirax

Rick E Hunolt (guitars) – DieHumane, Exodus

Doug Piercy (guitars) – Blind Illusion, Quintannica, Angel Witch, The Company, Heathen, Control, Anvil Chorus

Tom Gears (bass) – Blind Illusion, Ancient Mariner

Will Carroll (drums) – Death Angel, Scarecrow, Old Grandad, Vicious Rumors, Hail Satan
So here is my favorite of their first two released videos, “One Nation Enslaved” that will appear on their debut album “Addicted to Power”, to be released on 7/18/25.

While you’re on YouTube, subscribe to their channel. Then go to Facebook and like NefariousOfficial.
And be sure to check them out live at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco on Saturday, 7/19/25 for their debut and record release party, opening for fellow thrashers Hell Fire.

As always, meet me at the bar for Jägermeister shots.

MMM's YouTube Spotlight:
So what did Covid get us? How about Richie Faulker from Judas Priest nailing Iron Maiden’s “Phantom Of The Opera” in a lockdown session. Note-for-note perfect. And the fact that Richie virtually never looks at the fretboard is insanely criminal!

Enjoy.

So there is truth to the saying “April showers bring May flowers”. The Jägermeister bush that I recently planted is in full bloom. And the Jager tree that was planted a few years ago is doing nicely as well.

MMM's YouTube Spotlight:
What happens when a drummer has been listening to Ronnie James Dio albums since his debut "Holy Diver" was released in 1983? And what happens when that same drummer gets a VIP package to a Last In Line show at Ace Of Spades in Sacramento? You get to jam a song with Vivian Campbell while Vinny Appice watches you destroy his drum kit, that's what!

Congratulations to John Parker, a long-time metalhead friend that I met at UC Davis during those early 80's. We used to listen to every Dio record as soon as they came out. What an amazing opportunity to meet and jam with one of your idols. Bucket list item, check!
