LISBON — Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton earlier this month issued her findings for the preliminary injunction she granted against the Lamb’s House nonprofit in Rogers, confirming the appointment of a receiver and setting a review hearing for Jan. 30.
The third party complaint filed by L & L Real Holdings LLC against the defendants over a contract to purchase the Lamb’s House property remains pending.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A man accused of shooting two National Guard troops near the White House has been charged in a complaint with federal fi****ms charges in connection with the ambush on November 26 that fatally wounded one of the West Virginia National Guard members and seriously injured the second.Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, has been charged with transporting a firearm in interstate commerce with the intent to commit an offense punishable for more than one year. He has also been charged federally with transporting a stolen firearm in interstate commerce.

LISBON — The Columbiana County Health District Board recently approved the new fees for pools, campgrounds and tattoo/body art facilities for 2026, with the cost for some licenses slightly increasing and some slighting decreasing.The board had already conducted two readings on the fees and held a public hearing, then voted on the third reading to approve the new fees, with the food, camp and pool program fees taking effect Feb. 1 and body art program fees taking effect Jan. 1.

LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP — Following an executive session called for personnel and compensation matters during Tuesday’s Liverpool Township Board of Trustees meeting, all three trustees voted in favor of giving the full-time members of the Liverpool Township Police Department a 50-cent per hour pay increase. The rate increase will be seen by officers on their Jan. 10 paychecks. Chairman Dennis Giambroni said if the chief wanted to address at pay increase for part-time employees at some time, they can do that. Fiscal Officer Shirley Flati said in her report to the board she is performing day-to-day duties, working on year-end and has filed the road department’s undyed fuel tax reimbursement with the State of Ohio.

NEW CUMBERLAND – The Jefferson County Humane Society has been busy over the last seven weeks in its efforts to plan for the future of the Hancock County Animal Shelter. “In November, we did a lot of cleaning and organizing at the shelter,” explained Sally Wehr, who, along with Lorianne Barbour, appeared before the Hancock County Commission Monday to provide an update since the Ohio-based organization took over management of the shelter Nov. 1.

LISBON — The special prosecutor assigned to investigate the St. Clair Township police officer-involved shooting which left a 4-year-old dead and a St. Clair Township police officer injured in January had nothing to report when contacted Monday.“The review of the case is not yet complete. Once I have completed my review, I will notify all interested parties,” Muskingum County Prosecutor Ron Welch said in an email.

LISBON — The Columbiana County commissioners won’t be meeting this week, but on Monday decided to close the downtown courthouse and all county government offices and courts completely on Wednesday, which is Christmas Eve.All county offices and courts will be closed on Thursday and Friday as well, which was the plan all along. The county Department of Job and Family Services will now be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the same as all other county offices and courts.Originally, the commissioners said the county offices would be open until noon on Wednesday and originally, DJFS planned to be open on Friday, but all that changed after President Trump declared Dec. 24 and Dec. 26 as federal holidays in addition to Christmas Day. The county Board of Elections and the county Treasurer’s office had already announced plans to close all of Wednesday before Trump’s announcement.
