The New York Mills Public Utilities department, along with the fire department, investigated a reported smell of gas along Highway 10 in New York Mills on Friday morning.
The city crews received reports of an odor of gas from along Highway 10 that included Casey’s General Store, NY Mills School and the NY Mills VFW. The staff spent the better-part of Friday morning investigating the reports.
According to Public Works Director Kyle Mattson the belief is the odor was from a mobile truck that was potentially leaking and traveling along Highway 10. By 9 a.m. much of the gas odor had dissipated along Highway 10. Mattson said he also spoke with representatives from Perham and Wadena who did not report the smell of gas in their communities.
If anyone continues to smell gas at their residence they should contact the NY Mills Public Works Department at (218) 385-2213.
