FAMILY, FAITH, AND FARMING: THE DUSTIN HARRIS STORY

Dustin Harris, a third-generation farmer from Davis County, Iowa, embodies the legacy of family farming rooted in faith, resilience, and adaptability. His grandfather purchased the farm in 1944, beginning a tradition that passed through Dustin’s father and now to him. Diversification has always been key to the Harris farm, which once raised pigs, sheep, and dairy cattle, and today focuses on row crops and Angus beef.

Dustin’s bond with his grandfather, who suffered a stroke in 1986, deeply shaped his path. Though he briefly attended college, a call back to harvest season and the opportunity to buy land in 1998 confirmed his future in farming. Working alongside his father Dennis, now 75, Dustin values their unique partnership that blends mentorship, friendship, and faith.

Married to Katie, a schoolteacher, and father of three, Dustin now raises both cattle and children with the hope—but not the expectation—that they may continue the family tradition. The farm also partners with Garrett Lee and supplies beef to Country Roads Meat Market, earning praise for quality and care.
