Haitian entrepreneur Marcus Boereau has launched a $30 million luxury real estate project in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, highlighting a painful reality: Haiti continues to lose investment from its own talented citizens due to rampant insecurity and lack of governance. Despite being a native of Port-au-Prince with a solid background in international economics and a successful track record across the Caribbean and Latin America, Boereau chose to build his TAMAN development abroad. Social media reactions express pride in his success but deep frustration that such projects can’t be realized in Haiti. Boereau’s story exemplifies the massive opportunity cost Haiti faces when it fails to provide a safe and functional environment for its own investors.

This analysis reflects on the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse, four years after his death on July 7, 2021. It argues that Moïse’s refusal to step down in February 2021—when many believed his constitutional term had ended—contributed to the deepening political crisis that ultimately cost him his life. The article highlights his poor governance over four years, his last-minute reform promises, and how his decision to cling to power echoed a wider authoritarian tradition in Haitian politics. It ends with a stark reminder: in the dangerous game of power, knowing when to walk away can be the difference between life and death.

The tragic assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse on July 7, 2021, remains one of the darkest chapters in Haiti’s modern political history. As the

This article reports on a major legal victory for Haitian and Black workers at Waste Pro of Florida, which agreed to pay a $1.4 million settlement following a federal discrimination lawsuit. The case, led by the EEOC, exposed a toxic work environment at the company’s Jacksonville facility, where employees—especially Haitian mechanic Fednol Pierre—were subjected to racial slurs, threats, and degrading treatment. The article reinforces the importance of standing up against workplace injustice and highlights how immigrant workers can use the law to defend their rights.

This article questions the contradiction in U.S. policy that considers Haiti “safe” enough to deport Haitian nationals while simultaneously warning American citizens to avoid the country due to extreme violence, gang control, and political instability. It highlights the dangers on the ground—such as kidnappings, killings, and widespread displacement—and points out that deporting people to such conditions is both inhumane and illogical. Haitian-American leaders and immigration advocates argue that the decision is politically motivated and ignores the harsh reality Haitians would face upon return.

Even if TPS holders wanted to comply with deportation orders, there is currently no practical way for them to return. Since multiple aircraft were fired upon

Editor’s Note – Correction Regarding Event Organizer

In our article titled “Divided We Fall: The Haitian Community’s Leadership Crisis in Times of Urgency”, we incorrectly stated that Naomi Blemur was the main organizer of the Sunday afternoon event held at The Kartz Restaurant in North Miami.

We would like to clarify that the event was in fact organized by Ms. Christine Sanon Jules, a Haitian-American community member, under the name of an unregistered local group known as “Haitian Advocates.” The confusion arose because the invitation to the event was circulated via WhatsApp by Ms. Blemur, which led us to believe she was leading the initiative.

We sincerely apologize for this mistake and to both Ms. Sanon Jules and Ms. Blemur for the misattribution.

We have since made the necessary corrections in the article to reflect this fact.

Please note that THIS CORRECTION DOES NOT alter the views expressed in our editorial, which were based on the original context and reflect broader concerns about leadership dynamics and unity within the Haitian community.

Kijan Jij nan New York ka bloke Administrasyon Trump lan pou mete fen ak TPS pou Ayisyen, malgre Lakou Siprèm te dakò?

Pa: Le Floridien

Depi Lakou Siprèm Etazini te pran desizyon pou li leve entèdiksyon ki te bloke gouvènman federal la mete fen nan TPS pou plizyè pèp, anpil Ayisyen t ap mande si se la fin. Men, 1ye Jiyè 2025, yon jij federal nan New York mete yon blokaj tanporè sou desizyon administrasyon Trump lan te pran pou mete fen nan TPS pou Ayisyen.

Li dwe swiv tout règ ak pwosedi lalwa egzije.

2. Kisa Jij Brian Cogan nan New York te di?

Jij Cogan se yon jij nan Tribinal Federal Distrik Lès New York (Brooklyn). Lè li tcheke fason Sekretè Sekirite Enteryè a (DHS), Kristi Noem, te fè anons pou mete fen nan TPS pou Ayisyen yo, li jwenn ke:
• Yo pa t fè revizyon sou kondisyon Ayiti 60 jou anvan TPS la ekspire, jan lalwa mande;
• Yo pa t bay notifikasyon klè sou desizyon an, jan lalwa TPS egzije;

3. Kisa sa vle di pou TPS pou Ayisyen yo?

Desizyon jij Cogan lan bloke administrasyon Trump lan pou li pa mete fen nan TPS pou Ayisyen touswit.

Sa vle di:
• TPS la rete an fòs pou kounye a;
• Gouvènman an dwe reprann pwosesis la nan lòd, fè revizyon sou Ayiti, bay notifikasyon, epi respekte dat ak kondisyon lalwa mande;
• Gen tan pou avoka, òganizasyon, ak defansè imigran yo kontinye defann dwa Ayisyen yo.

4. Kisa n ka aprann nan sitiyasyon sa a?

Gen diferans ant gen dwa fè yon bagay ak fè li jan lalwa mande.
Lakou Siprèm lan di gouvènman an ka mete fen nan TPS.

Konklizyon

TPS pou Ayisyen yo poko fini. Menmsi administrasyon Trump lan gen plan mete fen ladan l, yo oblije respekte règ lalwa.

Jij Cogan fè konnen, “Nou pa ka mete fen nan TPS konsa. Fòk tout pwosesis legal yo respekte, etap pa etap.”

Le Floridien ap kontinye suiv dosye sa pou kominote Ayisyèn nan ka toujou rete enfòme.

Pataje ak fanmi w, zanmi w, kominote w.
