This one looks like it’s staring atcha, fossil wood structural preservation is fascinating!

Again, from the crafty hands of Bill Poor, this one is Lassen County material from the 60s or 70s and it’s a knockout.

Is anybody tiring of the bookend week yet?

Another stunning fossil wood set in my collection featuring beautiful blue agate with white and black opal….even a little bit of orange/yellow flash to top it off!

Crafted by Bill Poor, likely in the 60s or 70s, I’m very lucky to have been able to adopt them into our house.

Stunning fossil wood bookends by Bill Poor featuring bright blue agate and beautifully contrasting black mineral replacement. Another spectacular piece from my bookend collection. I was lucky to grab this one from the estate of Bill Poor along with trunkful of fantastic pieces a few years ago. 16” across and as colorful as you’ll find, this specimen of Arizona petrified wood knocks my socks off!

One of my favorites from my vintage bookend collection.
“Gary Green”, “Larsonite”, or “Freedom Jasper”, whatever name it goes by now, is wild material often mistaken for petrified organics/wood. And while there has been a piece or two of actual fossil wood found in or near the deposit, this stuff is widely accepted as a silicate flow deposit.

This piece was acquired from the estate of Bill Poor who was a highly regarded lapidary artist in our region, and crafted many a fine bookend examples such as this.
