For those of you who got to know Hank through his book "Presumption," we are sharing the loss with you. Hank was a talented writer and a good friend. He was one of those folks with an open heart who we became friends with even though we never met in person. If you have not read his book, pick it up and enjoy the Western adventure. His writing is clear and strong and you will be captured by the story. RIP my friend and our hearts go out to his family and friends and all who loved him.
With great sorrow, we bid farewell to a wonderful writer and a kind, caring soul. I love all my clients and always feel honored to be their editor, but few become friends as Hank did. We may never have met in person, only through Zoom meetings and phone calls and countless correspondences, but Hank's heart and soul always shone through every conversation. He was a true artist with words and a camera. How I wish he'd been well enough to publish his book of poetry and his wonderful second novel, which is surely a homage to the city he loved and to love itself. I hope somehow those beautiful pages find their way into print. I believe his light will linger on the land where he walked so often, the place that inspired him deeply. I suspect the trees, herons, and hawks will miss his familiar presence. The earth will recall and hold onto every footfall, imprinted with love and a sense of awe that flowed so freely from Hank's kind soul. The last time Drew and I had a Zoom meeting with Hank, before we signed off, he told us he loved us, and we could always feel that love and definitely reciprocated it. Hank gave love as freely as anyone I've encountered. His heart light was so bright. That's what we'll cherish now, along with the magic of his words and the beauty of his spirit.
