We made the trip to Lubbock, TX for the Raider Red Meats BBQ and Ribeye Championship at Texas Tech. Thought we laid down a solid cook with a good shot at chicken, ribs, and pork. Brisket was tender… maybe too tender 😜.

There were 55 teams and they called the top 15, so we did hear our name for the first three categories, but the calls came early. Final results:
11th Springer Mountain Farms chicken
14th Villari Foods ribs with Heath Riles BBQ
14th Villari Foods pork with Heath Riles BBQ
20th brisket
13th overall

We rolled back into Westland, MI for the All American BBQ Throwdown and it did not disappoint! Second year at this comp, and it just keeps getting better. Special thanks to the organizers Jim & Sarah and to Buddy, Kristen, Justin and the rest of the Shiggin Ain’t Easy BBQ crew for putting an event that truly feels like a BBQ family reunion—group dinners, cold drinks, good music, morning donuts and awesome company. And being just outside Detroit, we had a great time checking out the classic cars on display on Friday— doing its thing! 🚗

The new trophies this year—blown glass cherries—were absolutely stunning, and we’re proud to be bringing two home! We’ll definitely be back next year to keep growing the orchard! 🍒

We headed up to Laramie, WY for our very first competition in the Cowboy State—the Albany County Fair Smokin’ BBQ Cook-Off! Another high-altitude cook (over 7,000 ft!) and likely our last one at elevation for a while. We had beautiful weather and felt pretty good about everything we turned in.

In the end we landed:

🍖 4th Villari Foods Ribs with Heath Riles BBQ
🐷 2nd Villari Foods Pork with Heath Riles BBQ
🐮18th Brisket
🏆 3rd Overall

Utah, you were tough but fun! Friday evening brought a quick storm followed by rainbows🌈 shooting out of the mountains. A little sign of brightness and hope after this tough week for the .

We heard our name for 5th in ribs and 10th in brisket at this year’s Blaze of ‘47. We knew the chicken tenderness was a bit off and it landed 14th. The pork just didn’t wow the table like it did for us. That’s BBQ for you! In the end, we finished 12th Overall.

Next weekend, we’re rolling over to Laramie, WY ready to dial it back in.
